Our all-time favorite Australian twins, Mim and Liv, have teamed up with Hook N Sling to deliver what will definitely be one of the biggest tracks of August. While the preview is extremely short, we’re really loving all 57 seconds of it. “Reason” is a very impressive effort from the three Australian producers and sounds to be the perfect feel-good summer anthem. Nervo’s killer vocals float over a gorgeous build up that is followed up by an energetic drop that hits just hard enough. We see “Reason” as the ideal follow up track to “You’re Gonna Love Again” and see very bright things in Nervo’s near future. “Reason” is out on Spinnin’ Records August 13th so make sure to mark you calendars!
If you’ve been paying attention to Twitter, you’ll know that many of the world’s top DJs are descending on Belgium for the world-famous Tomorrowland festival. Tune in to the live YouTube streams from Tomorrowland below, which starts at 7PM CET / 1PM EST / 10AM PST with Alesso. The live coverage will run through 1AM CET / 7PM EST, wrapping up right before it’s time to head out on your Friday night. Yeah, Friday just got way better. (Not to mention the fact that the streams continue throughout the weekend!)
Kaskade’s top bootleg has made its way past Music Mondays, straight to the release circuit. The cross between his own “Stars Align” and Qulinez’s “Troll” has worked wonders on the festival stages and has been a staple in Kaskade’s Freaks of Nature sets. The euphoric vocal from “Stars Align” compliments the the lighter builds of “Troll” to anticipate the serving drop. Bring Kaskade’s main stage presence to your music library and grab his big-time mashup on Beatport courtesy of Ultra Records.
Everyone knows that the weekend really starts on Thursday, so it’s officially time to get ready for the weekend. Today we learned of things like Nicky Romero’s new podcast and Tritonal’s upcoming album, but there’s more in store for you. Keep reading for today’s Best of the Rest.
Insomniac’s Pasquale Rotella just tweeted out the line-up for September’s Nocturnal Wonderland. Featuring an eclectic mix of heavy dubstep, euphoric trance, big room house and everything in between — this year’s Nocturnal Wonderland is not one you’ll want to miss.
Pasquale has always been extremely vocal about putting the music first and the line-up here reflects that; From 12th Planet to John Digweed, Pretty Lights to Danny Tenaglia, Cosmic Gate to Royksopp, it’s abundantly clear that the bookings were done with the music in mind.
When we first heard “I Rave You,” we thought it was a nice departure from Basto’s usual euphoric piano melodies. The gritty electro drop has been removed and replaced with synths that follow a similar melodic pattern as the build. The original was more exciting and different, while this version honestly feels a little flat. Which version do you prefer, the electro version or the progressive house edit?
Matisse & Sadko return to their monthly mix routine, continuing originality with their July installment. Unlike many DJs who put out monthly promo mixes, Matisse & Sadko tend to stay away from overplayed tracks while delivering new and refreshing beats. In this months installment you can find Madeon’s brand new “Finale,” Otto Know’s remix of “Kick Out The Epic Motherfucker,” and Albin Meyers’ next big hit “The Beast.” Along with the gems comes music from Duher, Inpetto, and of course, Matisse & Sadko themselves. If you’re looking for some fresh tunes to help wind down the summer, download the mix directly from the SoundCloud and find the track list below the jump.
Featured on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 back in May, “Back 2 You” has been floating around the ether of the internet for months as a radio rip, teasing us with it’s punchy bass and nu-disco atmosphere. In his usual fashion, Russ drops a pulsating deep house bass line amidst a floaty disco groove, merging the two together in an artfully subtle way. The intricately crafted synthwork, vocal samples and bouncy percussion work perfectly together to create a track that’s impossible not to enjoy.
Go ahead and delete those ill-begotten radio rips, we will finally see an official Beatport release on July 30th.
Trance duo Tritonal is prepared to release their double disc album Piercing The Quiet: Remixed. Lead by the lead single “Something New,” the album features a remix disc along with a club mix disc. Just today, Tritonal has revealed the album’s track list along with pre-order details ahead of its September 3rd release date. Check the track list below the jump and enter for a chance to win a limited signed edition of the album at Tritonal’s official page.
Tommy Trash is known for his stunningly energetic productions and his (somehow) even more energetic performances. Well, Tommy has certainly changed that up with his brand new collaboration with Goodwill. “You Used Me” departs from the massive, anthemic progressive house that we’ve been hearing so much recently, and returns back to a more vintage and soulful house sound. Big synth stabs and housy chords combine perfectly with Ron Carroll’s incredible vocals. While we hope Tommy continues to put out productions in the style of his “Ladi Dadi” and “The Veldt” remixes, we also really, really enjoy this! No details on a release date yet.
Purchase: TBA (No Release Date Yet)
Update: Tommy let us know on Twitter that he isn’t actually involved with this release, even though the SoundCloud preview on Goodwill’s page still includes Tommy’s name… This post has been edited.
