In a time when the credibility of DJ Mag’s Top 100 continues to come into question, Resident Advisor’s annual poll is more relevant than ever. While the former has traditionally served as a decent gage of popularity among EDM artists, rampant accusations of voting fraud and invasive marketing techniques have riddled the integrity of the poll. On the other hand, Resident Advisor’s annual list has continued to uphold the values of the underground. With a similar approach to DJ Mag’s list, Resident Advisor allows fans to choose their top DJs of the year. This year’s results are in, bearing a striking resemblance to last year’s top honors.
Lake Tahoe’s annual SnowGlobe music festival has released its 2013 lineup. As expected, Tahoe’s premiere New Years’ Eve event has booked a diverse array of talent, featuring such formidable acts as Tiësto, Kaskade, Zeds Dead, Gramatik and Dillon Francis. Backing these festival regulars is a laundry list of forward-thinking electronic musicians, such as Kill Paris, Cashmere Cat, Kastle, The Polish Ambassador and more. Throw in Dirtybird, a performance from Snoop Dogg (Lion), and an impending third headliner, and you’ve got the makings of an awesome festival. If you can brave the weather, $150 for the three day pass should sound quite reasonable.
Acclaimed UK producer Sub Focus has been releasing music since 2003, yet prior to yesterday, had only one album to his name: his 2009 self-titled debut. While his first release made waves in the drum ‘n’ bass world with such iconic tracks as “Splash” and “Timewarp,” Sub Focus has returned four years later with Torus, the crowning achievement of his career and an album that will stand as one of the biggest releases of 2013.
For those of us unable to attend TomorrowWorld’s inaugural event down in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, the TomorrowWorld TV livestream will have to suffice. From 7pm to 2am ET today, TomorrowWorld will stream the action live – watch above and join in on the conversation below. If you can’t participate, you may as well spectate (and suffer from a serious case of FOMO).
Finish out the weekend with the Day 3 live stream.
Beyond Wonderland Bay Area kicks off its two day festival tomorrow at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, CA. With its daunting, star-studded lineup, the time conflicts were going to be inevitable. While guests will have to choose between acts such as Arty, Headhunterz, and Damian Lazarus on Saturday, Sunday doesn’t get any easier with W&W, Tiësto, and Carnage performing at the same time. Fortunately, from the look of the site map and set times, it appears there will be multiple “main stages,” with plenty of dazzling stage constructions to give the artists the stellar show production they deserve.Posted by
While there are countless reputable labels to speak of in 2013, few have proven as forward-thinking and innovative as OWSLA. With a roster that continually boasts the highest caliber of underrated artists, Skrillex’s savvy label has seemingly gathered the best of today’s genre-pushing producers under one roof. OWSLA is set to take over an entire stage for the final day of TomorrowWorld, bringing some of its most promising bass music producers for a Sunday extravaganza.
Taking place Thursday through Monday in Oakdale, California (a couple hours outside of San Francisco), Symbiosis Gathering is primed to be one of the most enriching festival experiences California has to offer. Located at the beautiful Woodward Reservoir, the five day festival is a harmonious mixture of music, art, and spirituality. Think Lightning in a Bottle meets the Bay Area.

With everyone from keenly established artists Kill the Noise and Jack Beats on the bill to groundbreaking talent like Seven Lions and the M Machine, the OWSLA stage is set to be a boisterous, bass music haven.
In many ways, deadmau5 recalls the fictional chocolatier Willy Wonka. For much of the decade, Joel Zimmerman will shut the doors on his productions, reserving his craftsmanship for his own ears. Every now and then, however, Zimmerman will open the pearly, virtual doors of his SoundCloud factory to unveil countless awe-inspiring creations. Such has been in the case for the months of July and August, as deadmau5 has shared nearly 20 different projects. His latest comes in the form of a 12 minute odyssey, entitled “Pets 1 & 2.” Showing off his penchant for arpeggios, the mau5 seamlessly combines his latest musings into a clean progressive house journey with plenty of delightful chord progressions and climaxes.Posted by
After invading the Oakland Coliseum for the inaugural Beyond Wonderland Bay Area, this year’s festival moves to the larger, more-concert oriented Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View for an expanded two-day event. With a roster of megastars fit for the DJ Mag Top 10, Beyond Wonderland Bay Area will host Tiësto, Hardwell, Calvin Harris, Avicii, David Guetta, and Benny Benassi. Trance heads will be happy to find Gareth Emery, Dash Berlin, and Cosmic Gate on the bill, while bass fiends will delight in the additions of Zeds Dead, Datsik, Dirtyphonics, and Liquid Stranger. Those less keen on the more commercial side of EDM will find their solace in Crosstown Rebels’ psychedelic circus, Get Lost, featuring Damian Lazarus, Jamie Jones, Art Department, and Francesca Lombardo.
Beyond Wonderland Bay Area 2013 will take place on September 28th and 29th. Purchase tickets here.Posted by
