A-Trak‘s highly anticipated Tuna Melt EP finally graces our ears today, December 4. Out on his co-owned imprint Fool’s Gold, the four-song Extended Play gives listeners precisely crafted tracks dripping in A-Trak‘s hip-hop infused electro flavor.
Tuna Melt starts off with the title track — a collaboration with Tommy Trash – the synth-driven tune unloads a vibrating bassline midway through before being met with an echoing vocal. An obvious club banger, “Tuna Melt” launches the short-lived EP with pushing electro vibes. “Landline” comes up next featuring the production talent of GTA. The track begins with more melodic tones before GTA‘s trap tendencies take shape. “Jumbo” featuring Galantis adds surging bass riffs and muted kick drums to form an electro beat with hard-rock edges. Finally, “Disco Nap” finishes out Tuna Melt and moves into 80s vibes with escalating piano chords and diving synths, completing an EP impossible to categorize.
A-Trak effortlessly creates another acclaimed output to close 2012 with a boom, click below the break to listen.

We’ve come to associate French producer LIFELIKE with fellow countrymen Alan Braxe, the late DJ Mehdi, Justice, and Daft Punk and known he’s been working on his debut artist album, Future Disco, for quite some time now. With Kitsuné Maison’s release of the first single off the album “Don’t Stop” as a remix package we now get our first tasty bits of this disco-techno goodness.
A-Trak‘s ever-skillful turntablism complements LIFELIKE’s on-point French electro-disco production. The remix duties go to Minnesotan Gigamesh (who manages to give the track even more of a vintage feel) as well as Parisians Mauvais Cliché and The Bloody Sisters. If that wasn’t enough, the EP release also includes club and extended mixes. Check out a sampling below.

Rolling Stone has just announced its list for the Top 25 DJs in the world, and some of the selections may surprise you. For one, LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy came in at number 7 — ranked ahead of Boys Noize, Skrillex, and Daft Punk (who were ranked dead last.) Carl Cox and Deadmau5 joined the French duo deep in the list, sitting comfortably at 22 and 20 respectively while underground newcomer Maya Jane Coles came in at 15 — ahead of arguably the most technically talented DJ in the world, A-Trak.
We were impressed to see underground stunners like Seth Troxler, Loco Dice, and Richie Hawtin receive proper recognition, all of whom secured strong places among the usual EDM head honchos, Tiesto, SHM, Avicii, Kaskade and David Guetta.
As with most lists that try to arbitrarily rank talent across genres of EDM, there will likely be tons of debate over Rolling Stone‘s inaugural list.

Swedish producer/DJ Style of Eye has provided the ideal soundtrack to your Halloween celebrations with his 30 minute Haunted House mix. Appropriately ominous and dark, the mix features tracks from Clockwork, GTA, Crookers and of course Style of Eye himself. Also not to be missed on the mix is A-Trak and Tommy Trash’s much anticipated upcoming collaboration “Tuna Melt.” Full tracklist after the break.

After nearly 14 months since its inception, A-Trak’s brainchild, Fool’s Gold Radio continues to deliver some of the freshest and funkiest tunes in dance music today. Interspersed with A-Trak’s casual humor, this hour-long mix genre hops from techno to acid house to chill wave and back again. It’s the perfect mix for those of us with iTunes ADHD. As always, A-Trak flawlessly mixes his favorites of the moment, taking us on a tour of his extensive library of choice cuts.
Stand out tracks include “ARYM” from Bromance Records resident Monsieur Monsieur, A-Trak and Tommy Trash‘s brand new track “Tuna Melt,” and Dancing Astronaut favorite Amtrac‘s “Never Dug Disco.” Staying true to the mantra that a DJ should play songs you’ve never heard, A-Trak delivers yet again – asserting himself as a true tastemaker in an increasingly vanilla scene.
