For those in the know, the Red Bull Guest House (aka the Dream South Beach Hotel on every other week of the year) was a WMC hot spot this year for catching marquee talents in an intimate setting populated by sunbathing models and A-list onlookers. With eye-opening lineups featuring the likes and labels of Skrillex, A-Trak, and Boys Noize, the poolside performance spot mostly catered to more new-school genres like electro, dubstep and trap over the course of the past week.
A-Trak returns to the decks with his latest episode of the Short Cuts series. This time the technical mastermind chops up his collaboration with Tommy Trash on “Tuna Melt” – leaving us asking the question “Why isn’t A-Trak the number 1 DJ on the planet?” There’s nothing quite like seeing a turntablist do their thing… especially when some artists can’t even beatmatch.Posted by
A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold Radio is back for its 18th episode and features the eclectic mixture of music that has drawn upon my attention since its inception. In usual fashion, this roller coaster ride of music features a little bit of everything for everyone’s liking. You get remixes from Jack Beats and Les Rythmes Digitales on popular A-Trak collaborations “Landline” and “Tuna Melt.” Drake and Kendrick Lamar make their hip hop presence, although with reworks from Funkystepz Shapeshift and JayCeeOh. And of course your dose of nu-disco from Moon Boots’ remix to Bondax’s “Gold” and tech house from Chocolate Puma on “Get the Bone.” The Fool’s Gold label boss delivers a stellar monthly mix as always and continues to be the taste maker that he is.

Last December A-Trak unleashed his highly anticipated Tuna Melt EP to outstanding reviews and much-deserved praise. The Fool’s Gold imprint featured a four-song extended play capturing the essence of A-Trak’s refreshingly unique hip-hop infused electro style. The title track, a collaboration with Tommy Trash, is joined by “Landline” featuring trap masters GTA, “Jumbo” featuring bass-heavy Galantis and “Disco Nap” featuring 80s-influenced Oliver.
Today, the remix package is finally available for purchase and includes a seven piece deluxe assisted by Grandtheft, Les Rhythmes Digitales, Q-Bert, Funkin Matt, Jack Beats and The Partysquad, each providing a distinguished flare. Also included is a revamped version of “Landline,” which you might recognize from Adidas Originals’ campaign showcasing urban lifestyle at its finest. The remix package brings the EP to new heights, once again crowning Fool’s Gold as the King of electro groove.

The notoriously fashionable A-Trak has teamed up with Adidas for its recently announced global “Unite All Originals” campaign. Other artists featured in the campaign include Iggy Azalea (not to be confused with the infamous Azealia Banks), Geoff Lillemon, Daniel Disaster, Stööki, and SoMe, who directed the short film. A-Trak’s new tune with GTA, “Landline 2.0″ serves as the soundtrack for the ad and the talented DJ can be seen scratching and reconfiguring the single to fit the video.
“Unite All Orginals” is attached to Adidas’ collider platform which Hermann Deininger, CMO of the brand explains,
“is an innovative way of navigating content across the web, showcasing many different types of originality – from music producers to designers and digital artists to sculptors. The Adidas Collider is the next step in how we will approach our consumer digitally bringing him or her to the forefront of culture and showcasing how adidas Originals brings people together to create new forms of originality.”
