It had been rumored for some time that the socialite and former Afrojack love interest Paris Hilton was going to be scooping up a residency at the famed Amnesia superclub in Ibiza this season, but until now nothing was quite confirmed. She’ll be the celebrity DJ for Amnesia’s long-running foam party with the title “Foam & Diamonds” starting on Wednesday, July 31st and if you’re going to be in attendance for one of the parties, you’ll also have the chance to shop at a pop-up store at the club that’ll be selling her line of handbags and accessories.
Things just got a little more intense in Ibiza. Two years after choosing the island as the spot to play their first-ever show, Knife Party is returning with their full-fledged Haunted House setup. Over four Tuesdays this summer the dubstep duo will take over Amnesia, bringing the likes of Porter Robinson, Alesso and Steve Aoki with them. With previous stops on the tour involving chainsaws, pyro and semi-naked masked acrobats, it’s likely the super club will play host to all of that and more. If you happen to be in the area this summer there is truly no party like a Knife Party, so click here for tickets and more information.Posted by
Come economic downturn or cultural epiphany, Ibiza has remained an integral cog to global club culture. Founded by the hippies and refined by a group of club-savvy business men, its dotted superclubs and hedonistic values remain an asset often imitated, but never exactly mirrored. The year may have already spelled big change on the island and a considerable shake-up of its residents, but that hasn’t detracted from another on-point season of clubbing on the infamous White Isle. Dancing Astronaut presents to you, from the mouths of our unofficial Ibiza experts, our most highly anticipated parties for the 2013 season.
Yesterday techno stallion Marco Carola and his Music On brand released a 78 minute mix celebrating the start of the Ibiza season for 2013. With album art like this, Marco is almost suggesting he knows something we don’t. I’d assume this is the full mix but you never know — last time he released free downloads on SoundCloud it was his Amnesia Ibiza closing set from the end of the 2012 season. He released it in five parts. No tracklist for this, but you’ll know how serious your friends are about techno based on how many of these hand-picked records they’re able to identify. You can always just call this one the techno sound of summer 2013.Posted by
What would you do to open for the one and only Eric Prydz all summer long at Amnesia Ibiza? Few have achieved what Jeremy Olander has in a few short years. Early on, the 24-year old Swede was the first producer to be officially endorsed by Prydz, who signed him to coveted Pryda Friends label and asked him to accompany him on tour. Following that colossal exposure, Jeremy has seen his popularity skyrocket warranting a Gallery debut at the legendary Ministry of Sound – in other words, he’s made it. His sound is ever evolving into his own unique style, a captivating blend of bass mixed with emotional melodies. Jeremy incorporates new releases with Prydz favorites in this 2 hour set. Want more? Check out his two free downloads exclusively through Dancing Astronaut. Tracklist after the break.
Italian producer-savant Marco Carola has tickled techno fans around the world with the five part download of his larger-than-life closing set at Amnesia Ibiza this past summer. Although a live Marco Carola set is a completely irreplaceable experience, we’re hoping this will give you an idea of this seven hour odyssey he and the newly formed Music On family curates. Forget tracklists — just close your eyes and plug yourself in. Yesterday we got part one, and he released part two earlier today. Keep checking back (maybe once a day) for the three other segments of the set.Posted by
Thomas Gold had a pretty amazing summer, and now there’s a five-minute movie recapping all of the highlights. “A Golden Summer” starts off at Paradise Club in Mykonos before quickly taking us to Pacha Ibiza with Axwell. Along with footage from some of the biggest events and venues around the world, we get to see things like Thomas’ personal “coffee bag,” and the special coffee heater he travels with. We jet off to Tomorrowland in Belgium before heading back to Ibiza for another show at Amnesia — just another day in the life of a mega DJ. Of course, there’s also footage of Thomas’ headlining gig at Governors Island (and his impressive drumline), which is where his summer unofficially came to a close. Check out the video for yourself, and keep an eye out for Thomas’ debut Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1, happening November 3rd!
