Da Funk – Smug / Don’t Let Go [Preview]

Smug EP

Fear not for the wrath of his topical moniker; this is just the proud return of Switzerland’s Da Funk to the renowned Anjunadeep. Da Funk was last found representing on their Anjunadeep 03 compilation, A-side “Smug” puts ID seekers at ease after a precious plug from James Grant back in February. Sweeping leads and blissful melodic digressions are the game, leaving B-side “Don’t Let Go” to relish in mellow yet outspoken euphoria. It’s just one more reason to believe that the label has spearheaded versatile club fuel like few other imprints of the generation.

Boom Jinx, Maor Levi & Ashley Tomberlin – When You Loved Me (Original Mix)

Boom Jinx, Maor Levi & Ashley Tomberlin - When You Loved Me (Original Mix) [Anjunabeats]

Anjunabeats has released yet another powerful track from Anjunabeats Volume 10, this time in the form of Boom Jinx and Maor Levi‘s “When You Loved Me.” The Norwegian and Israeli producers use American Ashley Tomberlin’s vocals to contrast the devastating trance bass line with a organic bridge and chorus. There’s no doubt this is an emotional break-up song, but it’s got legs to stand on any dance floor as well.

Dancing Astronaut presents Axis, Episode 054: Mixed by Audien

audienAxis054

Axis’s 54th episode is brought to you by the young Connecticut-born producer Nate Rathbun, known as Audien in the dance music world. In the last year, he’s contributed to A State of Trance, released several tracks on Anjunabeats and Enhanced Recordings, and remixed tracks for Arty, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, and Jaytech. His DJing style certainly toes the line between progressive and trance, offering both euphoric overtones and tastes of grinding bass and electro.

Super8 & Tab – L.A. (BT and Juventa Mixes)

Super8 & Tab - L.A. (BT and Juventa Mixes) [Anjunabeats]

After appearing on loads of live sets, radio broadcasts, and podcasts, Super8 & Tab‘s “L.A.” is now getting two official remixes from two major players in the trance game. BT, making his Anjunabeats debut, and Juventa, returning from a three-year hiatus, have taken their remix tactics to the fan favorite from Anjunabeats Volume 10. BT takes the classic elements of the original and puts a definitive BT stamp on it, creating a high-energy symphony of white noise, soaring synths, and massive electro riffs. Juventa brings out the big guns and adds a gritty, heart-stopping drop, all while maintaining a fantastic atmosphere using the original airy vocals and melody-driven chordplay. The high-flying remix package is out today on Anjunabeats.

Anjunabeats releases official statement regarding Will.i.am and ‘Rebound’

Will.I.Am_

After remaining relatively quiet regarding Will.i.am’s blatant plagiarism of Arty and Mat Zo’s “Rebound,” Anjunabeats has just released an official statement on the matter. While it is true that Will.i.am. credited Arty in the sleeve notes (but not Mat Zo), Anjunabeats attests that he did not receive permission to use the track. As of writing, there has been no official paperwork filed by either party for the use of the track, further implicating Will.i.am in this ongoing case of copyright infringement.  It seems you actually can’t take someone’s work without them knowing and then thank them for it later. Who knew? See Anjunabeats statement after the break. (more…)

Above & Beyond – Walter White (Original Mix)

Above & Beyond Walter White

After appearing on the radio shows of such names as Paul Oakenfold, Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten, a certain “Walter White” is reintroducing itself to those who may have forgotten. After earning a spot as a standout on Anjunabeats Volume 10, the tune has been released as a single with an additional 90 seconds of Above & Beyond magic. Acting as a soundtrack within a single, the track journeys from the melancholic to the intense, making its way to a trance melody that proved its power at Ultra’s A State Of Trance Stage. More than a club anthem, “Walter White” goes above and beyond into new realms of trance territory.

Jaytech – Inception/Wipeout

jaytech inception/wipeout

Australia’s Jaytech is following up last year’s Multiverse with a one-two punch of a release.  Out on Anjunabeats is Inception/Wipeout, a mini EP with maximum depth. The release kicks off with “Inception,” a tune that blurs a bouncing house beat with orchestral trance elements and a touch of retro synth. Though equally blended, “Wipeout” takes a different approach, emphasizing a piano melody and incorporating a build that flirts with progressive stylings. Though dubbed trance by Beatport, Jaytech’s latest release criss-crosses across genres, taking listeners on a 12-minute joyride through sound.

Will.i.am rips off Arty and Mat Zo’s ‘Rebound’ for latest single [Updated]

william-freshy-lets-go

Will.i.am’s fourth studio album, #willpower, indicates strong electro-pop influences with lead singles including the Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello produced “This Is Love” and the Basto written “Scream & Shout.” Other than these collaborators, Will.I.Am had no other EDM producers come to his aid — at least to their knowledge. Today, Will’s VEVO uploaded the fifth track from the album, “Let’s Go” alongside Chris Brown, and the preview has the dance music community up in arms.  ”Let’s Go” appears to be a blatant ripoff of Arty and Mat Zo‘s Anjunabeats release, “Rebound,” and not just a sample, the entire track. Listen for yourself after the break.

Genix – Stateside/United EP

Genix - Stateside United [Anjunabeats]

UK producer Damion Houchen, better known as Genix, is a consistent Anjunabeats favorite with big anthems like “Destinations,” “Aura,” and “Immersion” as some recent memorable contributions from the solo artist. Genix was featured three times on Anjunabeats Vol. 10 and “Stateside,” part one of two on this EP, is a sure fire heartening trance track. On the flipside, “United” plays to a tad gutsy-ier sound, but still manages to evoke feelings of grandeur that trance producers so typically play to.
