This February, Afrojack released “As Your Friend” with Chris Brown, officially marking the road to his debut album and staking his claim in 2013. The record has since hit number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart and snippets of remixes have hit the Internet. Today, however, Afrojack has officially released the remix package for his lead single, going in-house and handing remix duties to his own squad.
Wall artists and Jacked residents such as Sidney Samson, Bobby Burns, and co-producer of the original Leroy Styles all take their hand at “As Your Friend,” along with Nause, Danny Howard, and newcomer D-wayne. Jump below the break to listen to “As Your Friend” in its newest versions and keep an eye out for new Afrojack music on the horizon.
Stockholm’s Nause have left few stones unturned amid their global overhaul. With remixes for Kaskade and Eric Turner already behind them, the Scandinavian fast-risers turn their creative yarns to Afrojack’s commercial outing “As Your Friend” to extend their melodic guise to pastures pop heavy. Whichever way you spin it, the vocal assets of Chris Brown were never an ideal asset to maintain. The sugary pop hallmarks remain, but the duo proves up to the task of driving quality peak time sensibilities into the track for yet another finely tuned and melodically refined offering to their well-ornamented trophy cabinet for 2013. This is out May 31st.
Afrojack’s “As Your Friend” has hit number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play, and now his Chris Brown-assisted radio record has broader appeal to the dance scene with its new twist. Alongside Leroy Styles, co-producer of the original, Afrojack provides an extended mix that turns down Chris Brown’s vocal mid-way to make way for building alarm-like synths. Maintaining the same backbone as the radio edit, the latest version from the duo is more revisit than remix, but is just the flare needed for live sets as tested and proven at Ultra Music Festival.

Coming off three Ultra performances, his own pool party and nightclub showcase, and appearances all around South Beach, Afrojack turns his focus towards his forthcoming artist album after wrapping up a busy Miami Music Week. Just as “As Your Friend” has hit number one on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart, his lead single with Chris Brown has received its official music video. Afrojack sits high on a throne of LEDs that resembles his live stage set up, summons an eagle, and co-producer Leroy Styles makes a motorcycle donut-burning cameo with the absence of Chris Brown.
Forget about “Gangnam Style.” Afrojack has finally unleashed the lead single off his debut album, featuring not Psy, but Chris Brown. While pop-savvy, “As Your Friend” reveals only one of many styles to expect from Nick’s full length release. Whether or not you choose to sing-a-long or bop your head to the big room-radio record, Afrojack’s edgier persona is on the horizon with tracks like “Rocker” already making way into sets and mixes around the globe. In the meantime, enjoy “As Your Friend” and keep it in rotation — this afro-gem is going to stick around through Miami Music Week and beyond.

Playing a sold out Pier 94 this New Years Eve and remixing Keane’s “Sovereign Light Cafe,” Afrojack is closing out 2012 with a bang — but he will be heading into 2013 even stronger. Following the future release of his “Gangnam Style” remix, we will be graced with “As Your Friend,” the first official single from his debut artist album. “As Your Friend” has been floating around as an upcoming Chris Brown song, but it has now been established that the track will serve as Afrojack’s lead record for his upcoming project.
“As Your Friend” is one of the few pop crossovers that will appear on Afrojack’s upcoming album, while the rest is expected be the less-commercial side we anticipate. We also wouldn’t be surprised if a club-friendly remix made the album as well. Take a listen to his Chris Brown collaboration and let us know what you think in the comments section.
