Tim Berg has been one of most revered names in electronic music for his productions that never fail to impress. While his mixing skills continue to be debated, there is no argument about his ability to produce tracks that sweep crowds off their feet, take their breathe away, or put a huge smile on their faces. “Silhouettes” finds Avicii using his chilling effect that reaches all of the body’s senses to bring listeners into a soothing and seemingly unconscious state. It features a vocal from Salem Al Fakir to bring Avicii’s influence to life, much like Etta James’ vocal did for the biggest track of 2011. The track won’t be unfamiliar to anyone that considers themselves an Avicii fan, but it’s yet another original that will bring new listeners in droves. It’s finally available today through Beatport on Avicii’s LE7ELS imprint.

Piotr Suchecki, better known as Cherry Coke, is about to put Poland on the EDM map. Dubbed the Polish Avicii, Cherry Coke is know for his uplifting big room sound and ‘More Coke’ delivers just that. It has all the makings of a progressive banger with solid chord progressions and huge synths, but its the little things that make this track great. The tasteful sampling of Leela James’ ‘My Joy’ and little wrinkles of dub step are signs of a seasoned veteran, not a 21 year old up and comer.

We were looking back through our archives of photos and stumbled across this one of Avicii from Pier 94 on New Years Eve. The shot was taken a cool four months before Tim Bergling became the face of Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply, but eerily foreshadows the Swede’s modeling career. Tim’s expression leaves much to the imagination, so we decided to have a contest and let you submit your most creative captions for the photo seen above. Like our Top Tracks of Miami list, we’re letting you vote on the options and we’re letting anyone submit, so get creative! The list is embedded below.
As the number of music festivals increases exponentially, Canada seems to be slowly joining in on the party. The Escapade Music Festival will be taking place June 30th to July 1st in Ottawa, but Toronto is getting The Veld on August 4th – 5th. Names have been released at a steady pace throughout the past week, with the lineup so far including Deadmau5, Avicii, Steve Angello, Bassnectar, Knife Party, Steve Aoki, Gareth Emery, Tommy Trash, Chris Lake, Cosmic Gate, Savoy, Nicky Romero, Ben Gold, Mord Fustang, Michael Woods, Aly & Fly, Swanky Tunes, and Cazzette. Although the festival’s name sounds a lot like Deadmau5′s most recent release, “The Veldt,” we’re told it’s just a coincidence. Tickets are on sale April 26th at 10AM, with tickets ranging from $69 – $129 for 2-day GA and $199 – $299 for VIP. Just another festival in the already gigantic summer circuit.
Between enlisting Benny Benassi and Martin Solveig for the majority of the production, making a controversial appearance at Ultra Music Festival, and naming her album MDNA, it’s no secret that Madonna is looking for a way into the world of electronic music. The pop legend has taken her love for the genre a step further, releasing a remix package of “Girl Gone Wild” that features no less than eight electronic interpretations. Madonna has taken her single from electro-pop to all styles of house, delegating remix duties to artists like Avicii, Dada Life, and Kim Fai. The package is a well-balanced offering that contains everything from a festival anthem to a progressive club mix. Continue reading to preview the release.
e interview is extensive, but like Pete Tong’s candid piece for Miami Music Week, it’s quite revealing. Armin rightfully recognizes that EDM has become “the 2012 pop music,” and credits social media and YouTube — along with the rise of dubstep Stateside — for making it viral and giving it the radio play to hit critical mass. The interviewer asks if the “drive towards the big room synths, like Avicii” has anything to do with the shift, and Armin has an unsurprisingly honest stance. “I think it’s a temporary thing to be honest,” he said, before going on to talk about the double-edged sword of the massive attention on EDM right now. For some of our favorite quotes, keep reading.
Avicii is teaming up with Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply to be the face of its new marketing campaign, reports Refinery29. The young Swede has been at the forefront of the EDM explosion, and while we’ve seen other DJs crossover into consumer products like headphones and clothing lines, this is the first time we’ve actually seen one get into modeling. While Avicii was briefly featured in a Bud Light Platinum Super Bowl Commercial, partnering with a major fashion label — especially one as American as Ralph Lauren — solidifies the value of Avicii’s brand and relevance in American pop culture. Our only question: What happens to @Aviciisflannel from here?
PS: The photo above was taken at Pier 94 on New Years Eve, presumably before this deal was signed.
If you consider yourself a true fan of the festival culture, then you’re probably one of the 31 million people who has seen the Tomorrowland after-movie. Yes, ID&T — the same folks who brought the world Sensation — knows what it is doing when it comes to throwing a killer festival, and this year’s Tomorrowland looks to be no different. This year’s Tomorrowland in Belgium is going down July 27, 28, and 29, and tickets go on sale at 11AM EST tomorrow. Prices start at €172,5 (~$225) for a 3-day pass, €72,5 (~$95) for a 1-day pass, and €242,5 (~$317) for 3-day VIP.
The lineup is nothing short of amazing; Calvin Harris, Alesso, Avicii, a Carl Cox & Friends tent, a Group Therapy tent, Swedish House Mafia, Chuckie, and David Guetta are just a few of the big names attending. If you’re in Europe this is not something to pass on, and if you’re making the trip from the USA, we wish we were going with you. Maybe Tomorrowland 2013 will have a Dancing Astronaut stage…

Lenny Kravitz’s “Superlove” is the latest track to get the Avicii remix treatment, as we first heard during his set at Ultra. Tim Bergling once again proves his premier production abilities by turning an acoustic rock song into a festival-tested house anthem. Featuring a melodic lead-in layered with Lenny’s vocals and a bouncy synth drop, some will immediately dismiss it as “too poppy” or commercial — while others will simply see it as another awesome Avicii track. Give it a listen and judge for yourself.
