Basto – Stormchaser (Original Mix)

6333564

Basto has proven versatility with his original productions, and is coming back strong after the releases of “Bonny” and “I Rave You.” Next up on the Belgian’s agenda is “Stormchaser,” which builds with his feel good chord arrangement before a heavy, powerful drop. Savage synths are then unleashed, and the track drifts back to its melodic form to build anticipation for more of the same. Another tremendous production from Basto to wrap up 2012 shines a bright light on his future, and we are excited for what’s on the way in 2013. Grab “Stormchaser” from Beatport and embrace the forceful sounds for yourself.

Basto – Stormchaser (Preview)

After releasing “Bonny” and two versions of “I Rave You,” Basto is back with another fresh orignal. “Stormchaser” uses the melodic build that we have come to love from Basto and culminates in a drop that differs from his recent fare. The bassline carries the track but the tribal drums complement the melody creating an instant club hit. “Stormchaser” drops December 8th on Spinnin Records and with massive songs like this we can expect Basto to become a bigger name in 2013.

Basto – BONNY (Original Mix)

basto

A couple of years ago it seemed as if Basto had released a couple of solid tracks like “Again and Again” and “Gregory’s Theme,” which still sounded like most piano based tracks. This year Basto has proved his tremendous production versatility on “I Rave You” then “Bonny,” both containing Basto’s earlier signature sounds but on steroids. “Bonny” begins with a dark electro house build up before leading into playful chord progressions reminiscent of a Zedd track. As for the drop, lets just say Basto has created another jaw dropper, which will simply make crowds go bonkers. Take a listen for yourself and don’t forget to grab your copy off beatport asap.

Basto releases ‘I Rave You’ video online

When we first heard “I Rave You,” we thought it was a nice departure from Basto’s usual euphoric piano melodies. The gritty electro drop has been removed and replaced with synths that follow a similar melodic pattern as the build. The original was more exciting and different, while this version honestly feels a little flat. Which version do you prefer, the electro version or the progressive house edit?

It looks like Basto is stepping outside his comfort zone on this latest offering and trying something new with his production game. We’re used to his feel-good, piano laden, melodic house; “I Rave You” has all of those qualities but when the track drops, it divulges into gritty electro chord play that will have dance floors everywhere going absolutely bizerk. “I Rave You” has an infectious rhythm to it – so look out for this track to get plenty of playtime during festival season.

Basto – I Rave You (Teaser)

When we first pressed play on Basto’s newest contribution, “I Rave You,” we weren’t expecting to like it as much as we did. We love when songs start off one way and then drop into something totally unexpected, which is what Basto’s done with this one. While some fans might be disappointed by the lack of his typical piano synths — which were used heavily in “Again and Again” — we’re happy that they’re gone. The progressive build reminds us of “Chasin’,” but the drop diverges into something different and distorted. We’re not even entirely sure how to describe the sound but we like it even if it has the potential to get annoying after awhile.

Basto & Yves V – Cloudbreaker (Basto Remix)

cloudbreaker

Belgian DJ/Producer Basto’s remix of his own collaboration with Yves V, “CloudBreaker,” was released on Smash the House Records today. In this version, Basto employs the familiar uplifting progressive house style we’ve heard in previous productions like the tantalizing “Gregory’s Theme” and past remixes such as Starkillers’ “Keep it Coming.” Complete with a piano introduction and huge synth breakdown, this remix is significantly better than the original in our opinion. Give it a listen and head over to Beatport to pick it up if it’s on your wavelength.

Basto – Again and Again (Original Mix)

221818_199553420082496_105190902852082_404811_3447763_n

Coming off Spinnin Records, Basto has delivered his official follow-up to his previous hit “Gregory’s Theme.” The Belgian DJ and producer demonstrates an Avicii like style, which I am sure no one has many complaints about. “Again and Again” contains arrangements of addictive and heavenly piano notes. At the 1:30 mark, Basto storms the track with tremendous piano synths that drop into a progressive gem. As unoriginal as the track may sound, “Again and Again” is nonetheless a BIG time production and accomplishment from the piano based professional. Check it out for yourself!

John Dahlback ft. Basto – Out There

John Dahlback is another favorite Swedish DJ of mine. I guess I have a thing for Swedes. He first started making music with his father’s Atari and now he’s a world famous DJ. Warning: this is one of those songs that is likely to get stuck in your head for an entire day. I recommend continuing to listen to the song if you suffer from that symptom.
