The only thing better than a tropical vacation escape from winter’s icy grasp is a tropical electronic music festival themed vacation. This January, Mexico’s BPM Festival will bring 10 days of good music, good weather and good vibes to Playa Del Carmen for it’s 7th year of deep beats in the Mexican heat. Today, BPM has released phase 2 of their all-star lineup, which features Danny Tenaglia, Pleasurekraft, Luciano, Hot Since 82, and hundreds of other acts to make for the hottest winter dance music festival in North America. BPM Festival is Mexico’s Playa del Carmen based spectacle that takes place every year during early January, and its recently been confirmed that will fall between January 3rd and 12th for the 2014 edition. The festival has grown larger each year, hosting beach front parties during the day and nightclub parties during the evening. The ten-day event is not your run-of-the-mill festival; you might find yourself at a secret jungle rave or dancing in a cave located inside the Mayan Ruins. The experience is boundless and hosts a slew of underground superstar talents. Last year hosted acts like Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Sasha, among many others.

With Miami Music Week now in full swing, there is never going to be a shortage of parties. None, however, are quite as unique as Tuesday’s 2GTHR event, hosted by BPM. The concept: nine back to back sets from a selection of some of the best veterans and promising young talent in the underground scene today. The Surfcomber Hotel is hosting parties all week, but this was truly one of a kind.
If you’re anything like us, you probably spent much of the last ten days avoiding social media for fear of mention of BPM, an event quickly becoming dance music’s greatest amalgamation of (largely deep house and techno) talent at once. The sixth annual festival took place this year in Playa del Carmen, Mexico — far away from the cold winds and boring cubicles many festivalgoers left behind for a glorious combination of beaches and beats. None of us over at Dancing Astronaut were of the lucky to attend, but we did catch some of the many killer sets that went down on the playas and in the clubs. Not all of these sets are complete and they’re definitely not a replacement for actually attending, but we hope this roundup will offer even the tiniest bit of solace. Click below for our choices from Andre Crom, Nicole Moudaber, Tale of Us, Ellen Allien, Sven Väth, Dubfire, Eats Everything, Cassy, Sasha, and Seth Troxler b2b Guy Gerber.
Thanks to our friends over at Be-At.TV, you can spend an entire masochistic week watching and listening along to the live streams from all times of day at the BPM Festival going on right now through January 13th in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. You can explore the site directly, or check out schedules on BPM’s Facebook page. Dubfire‘s Sci + Tec, Toolroom, Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich’s Desolat, Sasha‘s Never Say Never, and Guy Gerber‘s This Is The End are just a few of the parties you’ll have to drool over in coming days.Posted by
