It’s only a matter of time before Cyril Hahn becomes a household name in the dance music world and it’s hard to believe that such a fine talent has gone this long without ever releasing a solo production. Those familiar with his earlier works know him for his unique edits to tracks like Destiny’s Child “Say My Name” and Mariah Carey “Touch My Body” — two tracks that collectively have racked up over two million plays on SoundCloud. This rising Swiss talent teams up with vocalist Shy Girl to showcase his forthcoming single, “Perfect Forms.” The track features beautiful piano lines, atmospheric chord sequences, and a delicate vocal to bring it all together. The track is set to release September 9th on PMR Records (also home to Disclosure), but in the meantime, you can jump past the break for more Cyril Hahn goodies.
Amid the EDCs, Summerbursts, Glastonburys, and Spring Awakenings of the world, there is certainly still room for a good old Full Moon party. This weekend in New York, Governors Island will play host to an extraterrestrial beach party, best served with lots of indie dance and nu disco. In case you’re still a bit unclear what this music may sound like, Air Zaïre has put together a perfectly poised mix for both partygoers and wallflowers. The party, designed as a tribute to Thailand’s famed Full Moon parties, is pulling names like Yuksek, The Knocks, Cyril Hahn, Tanlines, Miami Horror, and Wild Belle to New York’s favorite island that’s not Manhattan (sorry…Randall’s and Long Island). If this makes you boogie enough to buy a ticket, they’re certainly still available for purchase here.
Sunday Morning Medicine is a feature from Dancing Astronaut dedicated to the mellower side of electronic music. We bring you our favorite therapeutic selections — old and new — in an attempt to alleviate the agonizing effects of a long weekend of partying.
Editors’ Selections is an opportunity for your favorite Dancing Astronaut contributors to talk about some of the music they’re listening to that we might not always get an opportunity to post about from week to week. Sometimes it’s out there, sometimes it’s obscure, but you’ll always get a peak into what we’re loving behind closed doors.
