David Guetta and Nicky Romero’s ‘Metropolis’ video is directed by Mr. Brainwash — and it’s awesome

“Art cannot be criticized because every mistake is a creation.” That’s the mantra for the awesome new video for David Guetta and Nicky Romero’s smash hit “Metropolis.” Directed by Mr. Brainwash, a famous street artist whose real name is Thierry Guetta (no relation — we think), the video shows David and Nicky tagging an abandoned warehouse with spraypaint before playing a show for pretty sizable crowd in front of a DJ booth that reads ‘music is my art.’ If you’re a fan of the Brainwash style, the video will be right up your alley, incorporating lots of slow-motion shots of splattering paint cans, things being smashed, and an absurd amount of controlled chaos. It’s definitely one of the more artistic music videos we’ve ever seen, but it works perfectly with the track and is refreshingly different. Check it out for yourselves and let us know what you think in the comments, and pay attention for the MBW cameo at the end in his signature fedora. If you’re into the Brainwash vibes, be sure to check out Exit Through The Gift Shop, a documentary directed by fellow street artist Banksy that reveals much more about the unique artist.

Update: There’s a new behind the scenes video we’ve embedded below.

Free Download: David Guetta feat Taped Rai – Just One Last Time (Fareoh Remix)

just one last time fareoh

Fareoh has been quiet lately after spending the summer touring with Kaskade, but he is back with a new remix after a brief hiatus.”Just One Last Time” was one of our favorite tracks off of David Guetta’s Nothing But the Beat 2.0 early last month, and Fareoh brings his airy big-room feel to the song in a way that feels like it draws inspiration from the man he was on tour with, Kaskade. The track is not radically different from the orignal but it does change up the drop with grinding synths that will make your head bob and some well-placed effects. Fareoh is a talented producer, but we’re still waiting for him to come up with bolder, more distinctive sounds. His free “Just One Last Time” remix is a step in the right direction, but we’re still waiting to see what else he can whip up.

Update: This remix is no longer available after a complaint from EMI. We’re told that the official remixes will be available soon.

Good Morning Mix – David Guetta & Joachim Garraud at Red Light Paris, February 2005

David Guetta’s One Love album is credited with being one of the major forces in bringing electronic music to the forefront of the mainstream music scene. However, David wasn’t always the international superstar that he is today. Once upon a time he was just a popular Paris based DJ/promoter with little to no experience in producing music. Enter Joachim Garraud.

Joachim added the technical expertise to David’s musical vision and together the two of them created a string of house anthems including “Just A Little More Love,” “Love Is Gone,” and “The World Is Mine.” Call us old fashioned, but we miss the days of the Guetta-Garraud collaborations and bemoan the fact that Garraud has been replaced by Flo Rida and Snoop Dogg.

Check out the video above for a preview of David Guetta & Joachim Garraud’s back to back set at Red Light Paris in 2005 and then click after the break for the full mix. We hope that some day soon we see the two of them back together crafting a set as incredible as this one.

Full mix and tracklist after the break.

David Guetta’s ‘She Wolf’ video hits the web, takes the title quite literally

“She Wolf” was one of the songs we preferred on David Guetta’s Nothing But The Beat 2.0, and now there’s something to watch as you listen to yet another Guetta / Sia collaboration. The video — which does feature a single semi-NSFW shot — features a pack of hunters sledding through the arctic in pursuit of wolves, who proceed to ‘break them to pieces,’ literally. It’s definitely not the typical David Guetta video, but the sweeping nature shots and overall vibe work with the emotional track. Check out the video for yourselves below, and don’t forget to read our review of Nothing But The Beat 2.0 for the full lowdown on all of Guetta’s latest tracks.

David Guetta’s ‘Nothing But The Beat 2.0′ (album review)

DAVID GUETTA - DAVID GUETTA NBTB 2.0new version5099997399827-MF

The poster child of the American ‘mainstream’ dance music movement is back with a new album — or rather, an update to his last album. Nothing But The Beat 2.0 is David Guetta’s latest take on the current music landscape. Rather than call it an ‘update,’ it’s actually more of a revamp, selecting the most popular songs from last year’s release and adding in a selection of newer dance tracks. To balance out the pop influences from the likes of Akon, Sia, and Usher, Guetta brings in more dance-heavy talents, including Alesso, Daddy’s Groove, and the Nervo twins.

David Guetta at Electric Zoo 2012: Mr. EDM finally delivers an unusually risky set to mixed reactions

ezoo-2012-day-1-djs-35

David Guetta is probably one of the most interesting artists still heavily involved in the music scene today. On one hand, he’s one of the most prominent, longest-standing DJs in the game, getting his start as a seventeen-year-old jockey in Parisian nightclubs. On the other hand, he’s the man who brought the world such anthems as “I Gotta Feeling” and “Sexy Bitch,” which have become positively ingrained in American pop culture.

There’s no denying that Guetta’s mainstream appeal has led to his exponential rise in popularity for the past number of years, and his ability to attract long-time dance music fans and new-to-the-scene teenie-boppers is both a blessing and a curse. Never was this more apparent to me than after watching his set at this year’s Electric Zoo.

Spencer & Hill – 1234 (Original Mix)

1234-EP

David Guetta whipped out a surprising amount of new music in his Electric Zoo set, and one of the new tracks is this bomb from Spencer and Hill called “1234.” However, unlike the track of the same name by Laidback Luke, this time the counting is done in Spanish. The signature sound in this enormous track is a pulsating, staccato horn that is a match made in heaven for a festival stage. Don’t be fooled by the endorsement behind “1234,” as it stood out to be one of the harder tracks in Guetta’s main stage set. With “1234,” Spencer & Hill have found a way to use their production skills for the greater good of dance music, so grab their gem on Beatport as served by Jack Back Records.

david-guetta-encore-ldw

By 1pm, doors to Encore Beach Club were already sold out, signifying that the upcoming party featuring the commercial house productions of prolific Frenchmen, David Guetta, would have a bit more “OOMPH” than your usual day party at the premiere club.  Whenever David sets foot inside of a building he brings with him a level of energy that is unparalleled by any artist in the game right now. His set was not only fantastic, but his charisma and energy behind the decks launched partiers into a state of frenzy as the suave-Parisian spun a slew of high-energy hits. We’ll dive into a few tunes that were played by David at Encore Beach Club after the break.
