For Steve Angello’s Size Records imprint, the excitement was never set to stop past their landmark 100th release. More than two years since his debut appearance for the imprint, Spanish house master David Tort unites with native peer David Gausa for a long overdue return to the label. Last found behind the wheel of 2011’s “Jack It Up,” this collaborative offering hits home on the edgier house tendencies that both European assets have claimed throughout their respective careers. Sharp on the leads and ringing with a nostalgic nod to the genre’s less complacent days, “Dizzy” brings honest floor fuel back to the equation, offering a welcome alternative option to the peak time skyline for the final quarter of 2013. David Tort joins the likes of WeSmile, Candyland and David Verde on the official remix package for MORTEN’s “Look Closer,” installing a fervent electro backbone into the PRMD-backed producer’s original. Shifting gears from the original’s melodic piano rolls and charming top line, David Tort twists the mix into a teeth grinding effort that ebbs and flows between guttural synthwork and silky smooth vocals. Staying true to the emotion evoked by MORTEN’s original output, Tort re-establishes “Look Closer’s” aesthetics into a much darker track designed for peak time play.

Denmark legend Morten Breum has been a long time favorite here at Dancing Astronaut. After mixing the 19th episode of Axis and releasing a track for Space Food Vol. 1, Breum is back with two more mashups to keep fans satisfied. “Look Up Universe” combines the soulful lyrics of Carli’s “Look Up” with the slow rolling drum breakdown from David Tort’s remix of Feenixpawl’s “Universe.” “Yes vs Bucky Done Gun” is more of a straightforward mash-up but the two tracks from Deorro and M.I.A really work well together, creating a fun bouncy tune – as Breum calls it, a “hill billy” mash-up. You can listen and download the tracks for free below.
Carli, David Tort, Feenixpawl feat. Quilla – “Look Up Universe” (Morten Breum RocketMash)
Deorro, M.I.A – “Yes vs Bucky Done Gun” (Morten Breum Hill Billy Mash Up)
Feenixpawl, the Aussies who brought you “In My Mind” last year are at it again with a rip-roaring, turbo-powered single entitled “Universe” featuring the vocals of Canadian vocalist Quilla. The track is scheduled for full release on November 23rd, but today we’re bringing you a little preview courtesy of the folks over at Neon Records. If you’re a Pete Tong fan, you may recognize the David Tort remix that was played on last week’s Essential Selection, also to be included in the release package.Posted by
David Tort brings out some darkness within the tech house realm. “Secrets Behind A Fact” offers us that space age feel along with a flowing vibe that keeps your head bobbing for hours on end. This is one of those tracks that a true house lover would n-joy considerably more than a newcomer to the scene. We appreciate the diversity that David Tort brings to the table – he can go hard, ultra progressive, or just plain dark at any moment. Compare and contrast the difference between his remix of Norman Doray’s “Kalifornia” and this tune and you will notice exactly what we mean.
