Martin Buttrich and Mousse T’s collaboration on Session 1 EP is the result of two legendary producers meeting eye-to-eye for their first original material in over two years. The German production heavyweights are veterans in every sense of the word, with Martin Buttrich acting as the co-head of Desolat with Loco Dice, and Mousse T producing #1 hit singles like the release of “Sex Bomb” on Tom Jones’ Reload LP from 2000. “Sunseeker” kicks off the joint venture with a focal guitar riff that gives off a warm and resonating melody. “Smack Back” on the flip side is another primed dance floor cut, featuring a punchy percussion and gritty chord sequences, throughout. The EP is out now on vinyl, and digitally October 21st.Posted by
In a relatively short period of time, Butch has become one of the most highly regarded in the worlds of both techno and house, and his most recent EP FTS, is only further proof. The EP, out on Loco Dice and Martin Buttrich’s Desolat label this week, is as he says a “tribute” to former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi and even though he himself is German, takes a political angle not often reserved for dance music productions.

German producer and DJ Philipp Maier, better known as Santé, has released his third EP (on yet another label) in the last two months. We’ve not yet forgotten Santé’s other recent EPs – Do You Wanna on Desolat and This is House on Lo:Rise — both stellar examples of a totally classic house sound. The Surrender EP is out this week on Audiofly’s Supernature label, and true to other releases from this camp, the EP pursues a deeper underground house sound in a subtle way.
The lead track “Surrender” — a collaboration with vocalist Ben King — weaves in and out of bouncing grooves while its dubbed counterpart replaces King’s vocals with exaggerated drum, bass, and reverb.”Think of You” (somewhat surprisingly) samples Mariah Carey’s vocals and slowly builds into an extended percussive break, continuing Santé along the path towards a perfect house track. What we probably got most excited about on this EP, however, was Fur Coat’s take on “Surrender.” The remix really highlights the sinister tone of King’s vocals and leaves the listener anxious all the way through the track. Listen and purchase after the jump.
