Lead by Joe Gil’s vocals, Michael adds delicate synth play mirrored by an uplifting kick proving his breakout status once again.

Back in 2006 when Dirty South was still a relatively unknown name, he bestowed the world with a remix to Evermore’s rock hit “It’s Too Late,” throwing him into dance music limelight. Pete Tong soon named the track one of his coveted Essential New Tunes, becoming the first Australian dance track to receive the honor since 1999. It went on to be licensed on over 30 compilations worldwide in addition to being picked up by Ultra and Warner Records and reaching number one on Aussie’s club charts. It’s a far cry from “City of Dreams” and “Sweet Disposition,” presenting us with a more organic feel of Dragan’s work.
Departing from the thematic sounds of his debut album, Speed Of Life, it’s back to business as usual from Dirty South. That means chart-topping singles and larger-than-life remixes all summer long. Striking back with an incredible rework, Dragan brings his euphoric energy to Monsta’s “Messiah,” finally released today. His anthemic synth stylings are a match made in heaven for the original vocal, and the record was deemed massive when used to close one of the final main stage sets at Ultra Music Festival.

Before Dirty South lets loose his remix of Monsta’s “Messiah” and begins his tear through the summer, he is revisiting his debut album for lengthened cuts. The first extended mix to drop off Speed Of Lifeis “Champions,” one of the standout tracks among the original release. Its bass-driven backbone and underlying synth-work sees “Champion” as the flip-side of its counterparts, and the extended mix draws out some of the hardest hitting sounds that Speed of Life has to offer.

Since dropping his debut album, Speed Of Life, Dirty South has taken a step back from the release circuit. That is until now, as he’s shared a preview for his forthcoming release, his own remix of Monsta‘s “Messiah.” Unrestricted by the thematic nature of a full length album, Dragan returns with big room flare, supplanting the catchy chant-like vocals with his signature synth-work and then some. Due for a Phazing Records release, “Messiah” will be available on April 15th.
You’ve seen photographs online after parties that were absolutely bananas. Most likely, you’ve also seen the ones taking those photos, or you’ve seen the flash, and the one responsible has vanished. Camera in hand, I’m one of the many dark figures running through nightclubs, squeezing through groups of people packed in like sardines, trying constantly to find the best spot to capture that one moment when the pyrotechnics erupt and the crowd goes wild. Often times, these seemingly endless treks across clubs are fruitless, and we feel compelled to move again…and again…to chase the perfect shot. It’s always a challenge; every venue is different in its own unique ways. Having just wrapped up photographing some incredible shows during Miami Music Week 2013, here are some of the ways I’ve learned to navigate the insanity that has become EDM photography on the ground and on assignment.
Haitian Phazing Records protégé Michael Brun proves his remixing abilities once again by taking on Dirty South’s Speed of Life single, “Your Heart.” Coming after the recent “Halfway” preview on Dragan’s Essential Mix, his new remix takes on a soft melody and alluring synth play accompanying Joe Gil’s flush vocals. The track highlights the stunning talent displayed on Dirty South’s debut album, a true dance music paradigm.
