If you’re looking for the King of Ibiza, we’ve found your guy. Solomun won Producer of the Year at the 2012 Pacha Ibiza DJ Awards and was crowned Mixmag’s DJ of the Year.He hosted label parties at Sankeys Ibiza and pushed out an Essential Mix. It’s safe to say this Croatian legend is making a deep mark on European house music, right? His highness closes out the largest club on the planet, Privilege Ibiza, with a set that can only be described as deep bliss mixing in summer favorites like Hot Natured’s “Benediction,” and Walker & Royce’s “Connected”. If this was 2012, we can only dream of what 2013 will bring for Solomun on the White Island.

Although Swiss duo Adriatique stepped onto the scene less than two years ago, their latest EP Face to Face, out this past week on the Los Angeles-based Culprit record label, is an offering worthy of producers twice their age. Adrian & Adrian have been cutting their teeth on Solomun‘s Diynamic label for some time, and this four-track EP is a great example of the new wave of consummate modern house productions — offering both a nod to the past and a leap into the future.
“Face to Face,” a track we’ve been hearing in sets and mixes pretty often as of late, is a well-oiled production — combining a catchy vocal hook with cagey deep house chords. The bass line on “Circle of Love” is a bit easier, and “Blackbox” ups the instrumentals with a fun little guitar riff. Last but not least is “Need It Now,” using Adriatique’s groove a bit more sparsely, sprinkled in with some hi-hat and cowbell action to boot. Karmon is a relative newcomer to Solomun‘s Diynamic Records, but that appears to be no indication of his ear for a distinguished DJ mix. His most recent EP Feel It made our jaws drop straight to the floor and “Wowshit” has basically been on repeat since its release six months back (and hey — Morten Breum even opened with it in his mix for us). For this morning’s mix, we share with you his one hour mix from Diynamic’s December edition of their radioshow. Not every GMM we share on Dancing Astronaut is what you would typically consider “morning material,” but this one from Karmon really will ease you into your Thursday in the best way possible.
