Editors’ Selections is an opportunity for your favorite Dancing Astronaut contributors to talk about some of the music they’re listening to that we might not always get an opportunity to post about from week to week. Sometimes it’s out there, sometimes it’s obscure, but you’ll always get a peak into what we’re loving behind closed doors.
This Berlin-based duo are keen on bringing Boiler Room style electro to the German dance music scene. Dumme Jungs‘ newest release, “Trap Tech,” is not what we expect to hear from the techno capital, featuring vocals and percussion derived from the American trap scene. Maximally designed bass-hits and minimalistic horn blasts push the envelope of the ‘bohemian’ (see ‘hipster‘ for definition) underground movement. “Trap Tech” is released side by side with a promo video from their last tour, bringing you behind the scenes and into the booth for the most aggressive drop in Berlin this year. Hear what the future holds for the German electro scene below, and grab it for free on Soundcloud.
Looking for some hard Austrian electro/techno? Look no further. We have Beef Theatre‘s “President Evil” along with three dirty remixes from Dumme Jungs, F.O.O.L. & Andy’s Ill. The trancey buildup transforms into a total electro banger as soon as you hear the ominous ‘Game Over.’ While Beef Theatre is still flying under the radar at the moment, if they keep putting out tracks like this, it’s not going to be long before we see them at some major festivals. Click after the break to hear remixes from Dumme Jungs, F.O.O.L. and Andy’s Ill. Released on the Techno Changed My Life label, “President Evil” is available for purchase on Beatport now.
If you don’t know Dumme Jungs, it is probably because you live in a box. Let’s change that. Berlin is home to the best techno, electro, and minimal dance music in the world. This new remix by the duo is a brilliant mix of classic house samples, chopped up with some electro fuzz and a garnish of dirt. You’ll surly exclaim, OH MY GOD ITS TECHNO MUSIC! We first discovered Dumme Jungs by word of mouth, the same way you found your favorite DJ or producer; now it’s time for the word to get out. Germany goes bonkers for these guys. ‘Think you’ll find them rather crunchy, with proper dirty electro energy. Allow this post to reach out and give you a taste of what’s going on in Berlin. Its big, distorted, funky, and sounds like obliteration on the dance floor. Give their new remix a listen, and let us know what you think…
Cyclone sounds similar to Jack Beats and Wolfgang Gartner. Big room house loops cut together with synth build ups ending in a splashes of monstrosity. It is the best of both worlds. It’s funky enough to get the shy girl off the wall and on the floor. It’s dirty enough to get down with her.
And if you haven’t had enough of them yet, this one is for the underground. A hard electro cut…
