Mat Zo and Porter Robinson give ‘Easy’ its storyline with animated video

Mat Zo and Porter Robinson’s acclaimed collaboration, “Easy,” has been one of the hottest tracks since its release in December, and it won’t cool down anytime soon. The boys, in tandem with Ministry of Sound, have released the official music video, giving visuals to their pride production. “Easy” now has a storyline told through artistic animation as the video follows a girl struggling with the burdens of fame and looking for escape. She seems to have found it with Mat Zo and Robinson’s “Easy.”

Mat Zo & Porter Robinson – Easy (Lemâitre Remix) [Preview]

As most of you will remember, Mat Zo and Porter Robinson rounded out their 2012 with the epic collaboration “Easy.” The track was originally set as a demo for Zo’s forthcoming album, but after Porter heard the sprawling production, the solo venture turned into a collab. Different from the typical sounds heard from either producer, “Easy” incorporates vocal house vibes with its catchy “’cause lovin you is easy” vocal hook. The Norwegian team of Ketil Jansen and Ulrik Denizou Lund, better known as Lemâitre, have crafted a remix that begins with a soft bubbling beat before adding wobbling electro bass plugs. Turning up the tempo, the production pair create a harder-hitting remix while keeping this disco vibes intact.

Easy

When word surfaced that Mat Zo and Porter Robinson were collaborating on a track together, there was no doubt the result was bound to be a bonafide big room anthem. Recently a clip of a complete rework arose from the Belgium-based Modek — it’s everything a proper remix ought to be. The hybrid of electro and tech house beatwork make up an uplifting, nu-disco turnaround — breathing even more life into an already glorious track. Slaps of high-hats meshed with a looped vocal segment transform the progressive gem into a groovy disco cut. Modek’s remix of “Easy” is set for a release on Anjunabeats/Ministry of Sound in the coming weeks, but for now, you can enjoy a lengthy preview after the break.

In a bit of a dream team scenario, Porter Robinson & Mat Zo have exposed the first preview of their new collaboration, entitled “Easy.” Pete Tong got the first play on this one last Friday on BBC Radio 1, but we also noticed Mat Zo played an extended version during his TATW 450 set over the weekend in Bangalore. Zo has been playing some version of “Easy” in his sets for a while now, but it appears that Porter has reworked it a bit in preparation for the official release.  Is this the tune of 2012? Maybe, maybe not. We can, however, confirm from the two minute clip here that “Easy” is a well-produced, feel good, and universally catchy track. We don’t have specific details on the release, but sounds like it will be out on Ministry of Sound around the first of year.
