Best of Instagram is a feature from Dancing Astronaut that showcases our favorite pictures from our favorite DJs on Instagram each week. This week, we feature gems from Steve Angello, Afrojack, and Diplo.
Following up on the free release of his remix of “Dirty Bass,”James Egbert has once again opted to release his newest remix for free. Taking on “Renegade,” by popular EDM vocalist Eva Simons, Egbert transforms the catchy original into a colossal dubstep tune. While the original boasted overt dub-inspired elements, Egbert’s rendition is entirely more satisfying — leveraging mountainous bass and effective vocal arrangements. After impressing us with his electro house productions, the Colorado producer shows his versatility by releasing this potent dubstep remix. Head over to James Egbert’s Facebook for the free download.
First heard at the Amsterdam Dance Event in October 2011, we have finally been given a July 23rd release date for the Apster and Eva Simons collaboration called “I Need More.” Abdesamad Ben Abdelouahid, AKA Apster, delivers building chord play and a melodic bass-heavy drop that is reminiscent of what we heard in his previous production, “Goldcoast.” Layered over the beat are Eva Simons’ infectious vocals, which have quickly become the some of the most recognizable in dance music. Give the preview a listen and stay tuned for the release on Wall Recordings.
Will.I.Am is no stranger to teaming up with EDM artists (David Guetta, anyone?), but Steve Angello is a new one for us. Will was recently a guest on Capital FM radio in the UK, where he spilled the beans on a track called “This Is Love,” co-produced by the Swedish House Mafia member with additional vocals by Eva Simons. There’s a bit of hubbub in the studio when Will reveals that he just finished the track on his laptop beforehand, but thankfully for all of us, the show’s hosts pressure him into playing it on the show live — despite the fact that his record label hadn’t even heard it yet. Thanks to the Internet, you can listen to it below.
R3hab is back with another new remix, this time taking on Eva Simons’ Zedd-produced track, “I Don’t Like You.” Our old friend layers a melodic progressive synth under Eva’s vocals and sticks to his guns chainsaws with a dirty Dutch influenced drop. This track will be released May 22nd in the remix package that includes versions from Nicky Romero, Nick Thayer,Taxidermy, and Fred Falke. Check out R3hab during the Jacked North America Tour and stay tuned for his upcoming releases including his remix of “Calling” and collaboration with Afrojack.
Update: Release date is set for May 22nd on Interscope, according to R3hab on Facebook.
There’s been a major push around the Zedd-produced Eva Simons track, “I Don’t Like You,” and we’ve already seen a few different remix offerings from the likes of Nicky Romero and Nick Thayer. Fred Falke is the latest producer to take a crack at the track, and he is the first to really change up the melody. Falke puts the (admittedly lovely) vocal front and center, and chooses to back it up with his chilled-out drums and delicate synths. We had preferred the original mix to any of the remixes — until we heard Falke’s, that is. This has summer smash written all over it, and feels like the perfect poolside party-starter when it drops on the complete remix package in “late May.”
A preview of Nicky Romero’s next remix just hit our inbox, and the hottest man in EDM right now has taken on Eva Simons’ Zedd-produced track, “I Don’t Like You.” The vocal is overlaid over an atypical Romero piano melody before dropping into a classic drop filled with the wompy sounds that categorize a Romero track. The remix represents a return to the sounds that got him map, as opposed to his more recent tunes like “Metropolis” and “Wild One Two.” It’s set for release on May 22nd, and we’ve heard it will be part of a larger remix pack when it does drop.
Update: We’ve just received the Nick Thayer remix, which will also be included in the pack. Preview it below.
Eva Simons should be an EDM household name after “Take Over Control” filled radio waves and stadium speakers over the past year, but she’s coming out with her own album this year and this is the first track we get to zee. Here she is again with her latest solo effort, “I Don’t Like You,” produced by Dancing Astronaut favorite Zedd. The track starts off poppy with a catchy baseline and synth-filled chorus, until Zedd takes over with a distorted electro breakdown. Due out March 26th on Interscope Records, we’re told the single will be followed by a video and a huge remix package. Stay tuned.
