Chris Martin’s euphonic vocals beg to be remixed. There is something about a Coldplay tune that can harmoniously counsel a depressed man off a ledge and animate your 90 year-old grandmother into a fleeting can-can. Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto, Avicii, and Datsik have all offered their own electronic accent to the British virtuoso and now its Aylen’s turn. With his remix of Zedd still buzzing in our ears, Aylen decided against filibuster-ing his fans; wasting no time in presenting us with a remix of “Fix You.” It’s not often a Coldplay remix will take the form of serenity-step. A traplicious masterpiece, Aylen caresses the senses by way of kicks, snares, and hi-hats. If you can forestall the inevitable euphoric stupor, brace yourself for Aylen’s symphonious outro.
Alesso told us a bit about himself when we interviewed him after an amazing set on the main stage at this year’s Electric Zoo, but he chatted it up with Pete Tong this past Friday night in his “15 Minutes of Fame.” Aside from dropping his biggest tracks like “Calling,” and “Good Love,” he even shares Coldplay’s “Fix You” — though not in the bootleg form popularized by his buddies “Fix You Pressure.” He talks about how he got started producing music, including the fact that he’s only ever taken one formal production course. He mentioned Axwell and Ingrosso’s “Together” being one of the tracks to spark his interest in EDM, and much more. We won’t spoil everything, so check out the stream on BBC Radio 1 and hear it for yourself.
