It’s usually a good thing when I come across music that is difficult to describe. More often than not, it means the artist is doing something interesting. Enter Dutch house producer Franky Rizardo, whose forthcoming EP on Defected Records is a compelling amalgam of classic house, tech and samba rhythms that somehow feel simultaneously fresh in approach and familiar in sound.
The title track strikes a rare balance between being upbeat and understated, contrasting the pensive vocals of English vocalist Tess Leah with bouncy throwback chords. Rizardo’s excellent Re-Rub mix adds layers of Latin beats and distant synths, while “Miami Vice” is a percussive standout that seems better suited for Brazil’s Carnaval than anywhere indoors.
Hardwell and Dannic team up for another remix, this time “Elements” by Franky Rizardo and Roul & Doors. A quick followup to their rework of “Say Nothing,” this new remix fuses tribal vibes and Latin flavor to create a house tune ready for the dance floors. The “Elements” remix gives listeners rippling percussions and styled synths converting the quiet banger into a bursting production begging for some volume. The remix is out today alongside the original via Hardwell‘s own Revealed Records.

Franky Rizardo and Roul & Doors make their debut on Revealed Recordings with “Elements,” a tribal, percussion-driven production. Hardwell and Dannic, who recently collaborated on “Say Nothing,” will release a remix of “Elements” alongside the original. Their dirtier more Dutch-oriented rendition of “Elements” is reminiscent of Congorock’s “Babylon,” which is not a bad thing. The duo’s styles seamlessly blend together in emphatic, big room unison. Check it out under the break.
