You may remember from last year’s EDC Las Vegas, Orlando, or White Wonderland a contest named The Discovery Project. Well, Insomniac is back again — generously offering a big break to bedroom producers everywhere for this year’s Beyond Wonderland. Do you think you might be qualified? They’re asking for a remix of James Egbert‘s track “Back to New” and a thirty-minute DJ mix recorded in real time. You can find the stems for the remix and more instructions here. This contest is open to any genre of electronic music, so get creative and think outside of the box. In addition to a potential performance spot at one of Southern California’s largest massives, you may also win promotional efforts on Insomniac’s powerful social media channels and consideration for Insomniac’s forthcoming DJ management project. Life could be pretty sweet.
Insomniac Events has revealed the 2013 lineup for this year’s Beyond Wonderland, and it features an all encompassing lineup from the entire dance music spectrum. The festivals new location is set at San Manuel Amphitheater in Southern California and will host a multistage setup with some of the biggest names in dance music. Not many can enchant audiences the way Ryan Raddon can. A statement only properly understood if you’ve experienced this Freak of Nature live. Last June, the renowned American producer captured desert festival-goers in this aw-inspiring set complete with famous mashups and Fire & Ice classics. Anyone who has experienced the hyped Insomniac festival knows Kaskade’s music flows perfectly with the fantasy world EDC creates. A highlight of the set is hearing the crowd roar as the fireworks go off during Call Out/Epic mashup, while the Move for Me/The Legend mashup may have the power to turn your Wednesday morning completely around. Tracklist after the break.
Insomniac returns once again with the Alice in Wonderland-themed Beyond Wonderland event on March 16. In the event’s fourth year, however, Pasquale and crew have announced a change in venue — moving from San Bernardino’s NOS Events Center to the San Manuel Amphitheater and Grounds. The new venue, still in San Bernardino county (directly east of Los Angeles county), will hopefully prove to be a seamless transition for Insomniac and its fans. Tickets for the event are set to go on sale today at 12pm PST, 3pm EST. No word on a lineup yet, but you can be sure to check back with Dancing Astronaut as those announcements do trickle in.
Dancing Astronaut, in association with Vanguard nightclub in Los Angeles, is giving away two pairs of VIP Fast Pass tickets to see Avicii perform at the grand-reopening of the legendary nightclub. Sponsored by Insomniac, sbe Nightlife, At Night and Ash Alliance, the Vanguard re-opening is also an extension of Avicii’s long-standing House for Hunger tour – which has raised over $1 million since its inception. Recently hitting 3 million Facebook fans, the name Avicii has become synonymous with poignant progressive house, including an impressive catalog of tracks that have nearly single-handedly defined the “EDM explosion.”
Hop past the break to enter the contest via Punchtab – or buy tickets here if you aren’t the lucky type.
After adding a stop in Chicago on the road to Las Vegas, Electric Daisy Carnival has confirmed that the festival will, once again, hit the tri-state area before setting up shop in Sin City. Last summer EDC New York (although stationed in New Jersey) became an instant success that matched the Big Apple’s beloved Electric Zoo. This spring the festival returns on May 17th and 18th to Citi Field with Insomniac once again collaborating with RPM to bring the EDC experience to the Northeast. General admission tickets to the two-day event will be $159 while VIP tickets at $299 before fees.
Tickets go on sale February 8th at 12pm EST — single-day passes will be released in a limited quantity at a later date.
California festival goers were disappointed when last year’s Audiotistic festival didn’t come to fruition due to logistical issues. The festival, which features artists across a wide variety of genres — not just EDM — was reknowned for featuring a blend of hip-hop, turntablism and electronic music to satisfy a wide variety of tastes and styles.
Thankfully 2013 looks to be the return of genre-blurring festival as Insomniac CEO, Pasquale Rotella, has just hinted via Instagram that we should “Keep our ear to the street.”

Nestled in the majestic backwoods of the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, Michigan, Electric Forest is truly a festival experience like no other. Every year, art installations, kaleidoscopic lights, and gallivanting vagrants fill the deep wilderness in celebration of dance music. This summer, the natural habitat will suffer (or savor) pervading basslines and reverberant soundscapes June 27th through the 30th. It is also apparent that the festival plans to expand again. With a capacity of 25,000 last year, Electronic Midwest reports festival producers have requested to nearly double the capacity to 40,000. The increase in attendance would see extended use of the grounds (similar to the Rothbury Festival in 2009) and most likely additional stages. DA will keep you updated as more information unfolds.
SBE Nightlife, a major group with well-known properties like Greystone Manor and Hyde Lounge, has acquired a new property Vanguard.
With over 20,000 square feet of interactive indoor and outdoor spaces, Vanguard’s centerpiece is the largest LED screen in Hollywood. More importantly, Vanguard’s main priority is to halt the bleeding of EDM talent from Los Angeles to Vegas. In partnership with Insomniac, it aims to be the authoritative showcase of globally relevant DJs and artists on a consistent weekly basis.
A combination of both exceptional Vegas styled VIP service and mind-blowing production, Vanguard is rumored to be redesigning experiences for the upcoming 2013 winter and spring season, with a confirmed New Years show with Thomas Gold to start things off.
Stay tuned for more information, as partners of this magnitude validates this property as a major player to watch in 2013.
