A captivating cabaret of canorous cantillation and cacophony, Krewella‘s carols consummately cater to any class of composer. Abundant alliteration aside, the Play Harder EP features a diverse collection of remixes of “Alive” and “Killin’ It.” From their debut extended play, the sultry and seductive summer smashes have scintillated our senses (… sorry) for months, and, now, are revitalized across too many genres to recognize. ”Alive” sees reworks from progressive prodigy, Jakob Liedholm, and bass-heavy up and comers, Pegboard Nerds. “Killin’ It” gets its own eclectic spotlight with Killagraham’s nu-jump, glitch wallop and DnB kicks from Dirtyphonics. Throwing moombah in the mix, Mutrix’s vocal chops are so krispy, Kia Shine demanded royalties. Even Chuckie got his dirty dutch hands on the once dubstep creation, giving us another reason to yet again, kill it. Grab ‘em for free after the break.
Dirtyphonics just recently dropped their own mix of Krewella’s “Killin’ It.” While not a huge deviation from the original, its faster BPM and reggae undertones in the intro create a subtle fresh take. The French quadruplet is definitely worth checking out at festivals this summer, as they put on an amazing live show. We first covered their remix of “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” last year, and they’ve been keeping themselves quite busy over the past year. Check out their SoundCloud here.
