It’s a known fact that anything coming out of Wolfgang Gartner’s studio is always guaranteed to assume a minimal level of excellence. The “Illmerica” producer has made it quite clear that rather than playing the game and producing uninspired, boiler plate festival fodder, he prefers to stick to his roots, approaching every production with a meticulous, nearly obsessive compulsive, attention to detail. Following up his collaboration alongside electro-peer Tommy Trash on “Hounds of Hell,” Gartner primes his next solo output “Piranha” for global release. Clocking in at just 38 seconds, this preview is less of a teaser and more akin to waking up from a dream just as the best part starts, but, for what it lacks in length, it more than makes up for in budding anticipation.
“Piranha” will be released on December 17th via Wolfgang Gartner’s own Kindergarten Records.
Since adding to the momentum of Kindergarten Recordings as its first signee, Popeska has had a busy year. Now taking a break from touring, the Georgia Tech student-turned rising star DJ is back with his second EP. Like Karmameter before it, Sonder is pure electro house, featuring four new originals and an edit of his previously released “The New Kings” from the Kindergarten founder himself. Wolfgang largely stayed true to the original, keeping the lovely Luciana’s vocals in the forefront while adding a more raw electro edge to the polished tune. Though the edit affirms Wolfgang’s support of his young protege, with the rest of the EP Popeska proves he can stand his ground in the dance space.
Groundbreaking live electro outfit, SAVOY, team up with Bright Lights on their latest Kindergarten Recordings release, “I Dare You.” In typical SAVOY fashion, the group infuses their rock roots with gritty electro synthwork, complementing hard rock drum sections with frigid synth stabs and a blistering electro house break. An anthemic, alt-rock vocal line from Bright Lights rounds out the offering with siren-like wails – creating the perfect blend of rock and electronica.
Best of the Rest is a daily feature from Dancing Astronaut that recaps the most important posts of the day as well as the stuff we didn’t get to. With the rapidity that dance music news and releases come out it’s difficult for us to hit everything — we hope BOTR serves as a catch-all. Make sure to check it out at the end of each day to ensure you don’t miss anything!
Are you a twitter all-star? Well, if so, this could be your lucky day. Wolfgang Gartner is reserving two spots on his guest list at every stop on his Love & War tour this fall for the best tweeter in town. To enter the contest, simply tweet why you deserve to win free tickets on the day of the show with the hashtag #loveandwar. If chosen, you and a friend could be on your way to see Wolfgang, Pierce Fulton & Popeska tear it up that very evening. If his tour is as good as the Love & War EP, you’re not going to want to miss out on those tickets!
