As premiered on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection this past Friday, Laidback Luke debuted his take on Martin Solveig’s bouncy progressive hit “Hey Now” featuring the Cataracs and emerging US rapper Kyle. He segments the poppy vocals and vivacious bass into distinct thresholds allowing for the song to have that immense Laidback effect. Listening to this track through a laptop feels wrong as this gritty electro anthem requires a tremendous sound system to do it any justice.
Las Vegas isn’t the only place to be for fun in the sun during Memorial Day Weekend as Revel is officially opening the HQ Beach Club in Atlantic City. Over the course of the three day drinking holiday, the hotel will host eight different DJs including Armin van Buuren, Wolfgang Gartner, Laidback Luke, and New York City staple Boris. Whether you’re in search of euphoric trance, grinding electro, tribal beats, or a dirty dutch soundtrack all will be at your disposal at HQ Dayclub and Nightclub.
Laidback Luke is responsible for a string of original productions, most of which carry similar charisma, indistinguishable by his signature sound — from “Pogo” to “Dynamo.” This week, Luke is bringing something new (or old) to the table, with his latest remix away from his MixMash imprint. Taking on Wallpaper’s “Good 4 It,” LBL drifts away from the bulky electro bleeps that he has been sticking to of late to summon the Dutch house that shaped his earliest material. Ironically, Luke “Goes Melbourne” for his throwback stylings this time around.

Two of the finest Dutch talents in the industry, Hardwell and Laidback Luke have welded their big room-savvy abilities to craft “Dynamo,” a riot-inducing electro production complete with a palatable melody, marching drum percussion, and a fire alarm. With its semi-innocuous chord-laden buildup, the real fun in “Dynamo” starts with its teetering, brassy drop — a boisterous festival-pleaser brimming with Dutch house influence. Anyone who has seen Laidback Luke or Hardwell recently can attest, the live appeal of “Dynamo” is undeniable. The track is out today on LBL’s Mixmash Records.

Best of Instagram is a feature from Dancing Astronaut that showcases our favorite pictures from our favorite DJs on Instagram each week. This week, we feature gems from Diplo, Deadmau5, and Seth Troxler.
“Dynamo” is certainly a clash of dance music titans — when Hardwell and Laidback Luke put their heads together, there’s no way the result could be anything short of destructive. Mixmash previewed the track a few weeks back, but now only days before its release (April 22nd), they’ve also released the official music video. As the forceful electro beats stab on and trancey synth pads take control, watch a full display of machinery and mechanisms — it’s almost like reading a copy of The Way Things Work.
When two of the biggest producers in electro join forces the resulting mayhem is nothing short of apocalyptic. On Laidback Luke and Hardwell‘s latest collaboration the combination of Luke‘s punchy Dutch percussion and Hardwell‘s blaring electro create a cacophony of raucous synthwork that thrashes and bounces with incredible ease. Set to be released on MixMash on April 22nd, “Dynamo” is dynamite, destined to explode onto the Beatport charts, propelled forward by Laidback Luke and Hardwell‘s impeccable talent for creating amphetamine-fueled electro outputs.
One of electronic fans’ most desired parties, one of the nation’s hottest nightclubs, two of the hottest brands synonymous with dance music. Laidback Luke took his Super You & Me movement to LIV Miami last Wednesday with a young and talented roster that delivered refreshing sounds into the morning hours. The production packed club added inflatable superheros to its repertoire of blinding lazer myriads, powerful confetti blasters, and unique ornaments that dangle from the ceiling regularly.
The sights were enough to behold for your week’s stay in Miami, but the night’s music would keep ears ringing even on your flight home. Human senses aside, it was the opening DJs that made Super You & Me one of the most talked about events of Miami Music Week, as each artist offered invigorating variations of sound. Dancing Astronaut has the run down of the South Beach bash, the most notable drops of the night, and why each DJ fit into Luke’s squad of supporting superheros.
Laidback Luke’sMixmash label has proven a reliable go-to for electronic dance music of varying sonic persuasions. Its played host to myriad artists including power players like Tiësto, Steve Angello, Afrojack, A-Trak, and of course the label head himself. Mixmash is expanding its offerings with the addition of a new divison, Ones to Watch. Although it’s not exactly uncharted territory for Mixmash, having a platform devoted to nurturing new talent is exciting. Luke explains,
“We’ve got so many amazing tracks by a lot of new and incredible talent that’s out there. OTW offers a stepping stone to Mixmash for those talented producers out there. My focus for Mixmash, and now OTW as well, is to have a proper platform for them. We started with OTW to make way for new and upcoming artists and to give them the push they need to accelerate. With OTW we can focus on each individual release and offer each artist a great start of their career.”
Ones to Watch is set to launch tomorrow with Koala, the premier EP from Blasterjaxx. This won’t be the duos first tango with LBL, having had their remix of Tom Staar’s “Kingdom” released on Mixmash earlier this year.
