It’s no coincidence that EDX and Leventina’s newest collaboration, “The Tempest,” contains the same title as one of Shakespeare’s most famed plays. The fact that it was released on Spinnin’ is no surprise either, as the label is valued for releasing some of the most influential big room house in the industry. The record take listeners by storm, and is harder than what one might expect from the sweet, sexy, energetic house music catalog of the DJ and producer. A steady chord progression and a melodic score offset the big room nature of the track, which breeds heavy percussions and electro synths. Fast-forward to around the three and a half minute mark and “The Tempest” briefly settles down, almost somberly, working its way back up to the in-your-face track which EDX and Leventina intended it to be.
Highly acclaimed Helvetic Nerds duo Leventina are back on track to follow-up their City Lights EP with their latest accomplished studio offering for Unreleased Digital. As a delicate fusion of uplifting melodic developments and coordinated peak time digressions, “Hear Me” proves perhaps one of the most durable assets to Leventina’s studio exploits to date. Grab it on Beatport from May 27.
Two of Switzlerand’s biggest dance music exporters have resurrected a classic — better yet, have crafted its “2013 Reload.” Dinka and Leventina take on “Elements” with booming progressive chords and a modern electro flare. Leaving the original’s enchanting vibe in tact, the Swiss production tandem brings the track to the dance floor in a matter suitable for 2013. The remake is slated for a February 11th release and is due to make as big of a splash as the original once did.
Helvetic Nerds, Swiss supergroup consisting of names like EDX, Leventina, Dinka, Daniel Portman, Chris Reece and others, is out with a taste of their latest single “Blood Pressure.” The track largely ignores some of these artists’ trancier sensibilities and goes straight for the hard-hitting progressive house vibes. No word on a release date yet, but this will be out soon on PinkStar Records.
