This year has been especially monumental for a handful of UK house artists breaking into popularity. The London based duo Dusky has been a specific example of the successful and growing sound of the underground scene. On the charts, Dusky has gone head-to-head with some of today’s most prominent names in dance music with singles “Nobody Else” and recent Beatport number one, “Careless”. The English duo is back with “9T8,” a percussion-driven techno piece with a deep, repetitive bassline that aids the song’s dark tone. A modulated vocal sample alternates with a pounding, quick-hitting drum to add to the track’s catchy rhythm and ominous vibe. “9T8” will be released on School Records on January 13th.Posted by
Sebastian Ingrosso has not been shy in his post-Swedish House Mafia antics. Already racking crossover anthem “Reload” and his Departures residency alongside Axwell at Ushuaia Ibiza, the Swedish icon announces a rare solo headline show at London’s Brixton Academy on December 14th. The landmark show comes four years down the line from Swedish House Mafia’s standard setting headline show at the same venue –- one which epitomized the trio’s ability to take electronic music to new and unchartered live territories. While no additional line-up information has been unveiled, the night promises to be a pre-Christmas spectacle from a man whose career continues to benefit from breaching new territory at every possible turn. Tickets go on general sale July 19 and can be purchased via Ticketmaster or Gigs & Tours. (more…)Posted by
Nokia has enlisted dance music legend Deadmau5 once again to help promote their cell phone brand. Last year, the two teamed up to bring London a 4D experience to remember, and from the looks of the teaser video, this year will be no different. November 28, 2011 marked the launch of Nokia’s Lumia 800 and the company used London’s Millbank building to project a light show unlike anything ever seen. The 800 windows of the building lit up up London’s sky with a rainbow of neon lazers –all bouncing to the beat of Deadmau5‘ tunes –as the progressive house producer played below. A year later, the two are back to give watchers another experience to remember, and a stream goes live at 3PM EST/12PM PST.
Watch the stream live after the break.
We tipped you off to Deadmau5′s unprecedented collaboration with Nokia, which was to take the form of an epic 4D concert in front of – and on – London’s Millbank Tower. Well, we’ve just seen a video of the 30-minute show and all we can say is… wow. Using some insane projection technology, the building’s 800 windows became an elaborate moving backdrop for Deadmau5′s set, with the animation perfectly complimenting the sounds of his tracks. Check out the video above and try not to be too jealous of the British astronauts who got to check this out live.

You’ve probably heard about this already, but tonight Deadmau5 teams up with Nokia to bring spectators in London one of the most technologically advanced shows yet to be seen. Nokia have set up an incredible “4D mapping” spectacle that uses the 800 windows of the 120 meter high Millbank Tower as a canvas. During the 30 minute performance (which by the way is free for everyone), Deadmau5 will be premiering two brand new remixes that have been especially created for the performance. Luckily for those who aren’t fortunate enough to be in London this evening, the show will be streamed live here from 4pm EST/1pm PST. Check out the preview below.
If you’ve never seen Above & Beyond perform, shame on you. Find out when they’re next playing in your area, buy a ticket, and then do whatever it takes to get there. Trust us. It’ll be a night you remember for the rest of your life.
If A&B won’t be near you any time soon, here’s the next best thing. The legendary trio will be playing a secret, intimate show at an undisclosed location in London on November 15. If you’re in the UK, don’t forget to apply for tickets by staying tuned to A&B’s Facebook page (this will be the group’s final UK gig of 2011). If you’re anywhere else in the world, you can stream the live set online by ‘liking’ G Technology Europe. We’re not thrilled about plugging a corporate sponsor through DA, but in this instance, we feel that it’s definitely worth it. Any company that Above & Beyond is willing to partner with is good enough for us. Be sure to catch the broadcast, because Tony, Jono, and Paavo will also announce their live plans for London 2012.Posted by
Fedde Le Grand, Martin Solveig, Nero, Zedd and Will.I.Am performed at the Roundhouse in London on Friday for the unveiling of the new HTC Sensation XL phone. We have no idea how good the smartphone is, but the DJ sets are awesome. Click here for tracklistings and download links.
