The underground world in New York was chock full of choices for New Year’s Eve — Lee Burridge and Moby, Wolf + Lamb, Soul Clap, and PillowTalk, Francois K, Pat Mahoney, or Steve Lawler and Carlo Lio (to name a few) were all in town for the big night. None of these however, garnered more of a flurry of interest and excitement than the announcement that Luciano and a trusty crew of beatmakers would be throwing a Vagabundos party on New Year’s Day. The event opened its doors at the Compound in Brooklyn at 4:30am, only 30 minutes after Dada Life and company closed out their high-powered New Year’s Eve party.
Following up the release of his Bahamas EP on Culprit back in September, Italian producer and label head of Endless, Luca Bacchetti, is finishing up 2012 with the Bloom EP on Saved Records. “Grab Ya Hips!” and “The Bloom” certainly jack up the groove: the two-track EP relies on tribal percussion and a driving backline to create sounds that’ll surely fill the dance floors. Stream the previews and check out the release on Beatport after the break.
Italy’s Luca Bacchetti has made a name for himself by releasing scads of house and techno offerings on legendary labels like Crosstown Rebels, Defected, Sci+Tec, and countless others. To add to the onslaught, he makes his label debut on the Los Angeles-based Culprit imprint with the release of the two-track Bahamas EP. The lead song sets off the melodic tone of the release, featuring dreamy progression and a distinctly oceanic feel. “Such A Dreamer” has a compelling punch to it, with a heavy bass line and shimmering piano-play present throughout. If you still want one last breath of summer’s electric offerings, Bachetti’s Bahamas EP will serve you just that.
