The Hot Natured group that began with Jamie Jones and Lee Foss as a DJ set, and later morphed into a live act with the additions of Luca C and Ali Love, have premiered a mix sampler showcasing five tracks off their forthcoming debut album, “Different Sides of the Sun.” The champions of accessible deep house have displayed a set of groovy cuts, including vocal tracks from Art Department’s Kenny Glasgow and Hot Creation’s favorite Anabel Englund. They wouldn’t be the first DJs to get big off of singles, but deep house supergroup Hot Natured are ready to remedy that situation with the release of their first album. Having already toured and produced a handful of hits together, Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Luca C and Ali Love have 12 brand new tracks that will be released alongside three familiar singles on Different Sides of the Sun. To celebrate, the quartet has released “Isis (Magic Carpet Ride)” as the first single, an Egyptian-flavored hot house groove. Speaking to Mixmag, Jamie Jones said the group went into the album with 45 songs and walked away with 30 to spare, meaning that their first album certainly won’t be the last. Eager fans still have a bit longer to wait, however: the full album will be released September 2nd. Click below the break for the tracklist, and head to iTunes to pre-order.
If there’s one thing Hot Natured excels at, it’s making deep house tracks into memorable moments in dance music. The experience of Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Luca C, and Ali Love (plus a good vocal from the temptress Anabel Englund) seems to be a fool proof combination these days. Some may criticize Hot Creations for selling out, but the way we see it is that sometimes when music is popular it’s well deserved.
Hot Natured‘s remix of Phoenix’s “Entertainment” — off their highly anticipated album Bankrupt that’ll be released on Monday — is a dream for dance fans wishing indie rock tracks would play to synthetic sensibilities a little bit more. “Entertainment” is classic Phoenix, but given the opportunity to remix, Jamie Jones, Lee Foss and the rest of their supergroup put their heads together for a well-crafted astral indie dance tune. They loop and stutter Thomas Mars’s vocals, replace guitars with playful and off-kilter synths, and of course add in their own four-on-the-floor bass line.Posted by
Highly-regarded Canadian label No. 19 Music is out this week with the third installment of their Social Experiment album series. Following up Soul Clap’s boogie-down selections from February 2011, Art Department dive head first into the terrific world of spacey house and out-there dance floor techno. Members Kenny Glasgow and Jonny White had been doing their thing quite well before merging into Art Department under Crosstown Rebels in 2009. Now, with several years as a duo — performing both live with Jonny’s vocals and in DJ sets — the pair are very much established among the underground’s titanic talent.
Hot Natured, the supergroup consisting of Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Luca C and vocalist Ali Love, has returned off the major commercial success of “Benediction” with a new website and a new (free) track. Usually we’re a bit more wary of falling prey to such shameless marketing ploys, but we’re definitely willing to pay the price of an email signup for a free Hot Natured track. “Assimilation” is straightforward — driven by squealing synths and a paunchy bassline, peppered with funky guitar licks and bongos. It’s far less epic than “Benediction” but definitely still satisfies anyone’s Hot Creations appetite. Jump past the break for the download link.
Hot Natured, the supergroup composed of Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Luca C, and vocalist Ali Love, finally release “Benediction” today on the Hot Creations label. Although “Benediction” was first previewed only as far back as August, it quickly became the song of the white isle of Ibiza. Jamie Jones spun the track all of August and September at his DC10 Paradise parties and if you weren’t already convinced this was of the highest quality deep house, tastemaker extraordinaire Pete Tong crowned “Benediction” as his Essential tune of the summer during his last Balearic broadcast at the end of September. The track manages to be brooding and lush, but also uplifting and simple. Ali Love’s signature vocals (see also: Infinity Ink’s “Infinity” and Justice’s “Civilization“) tie Hot Natured’s otherworldly production into what might just be the perfect underground anthem.
