Dance music veteran Laidback Luke officially released “Pogo” last month, giving fans an electro house beat with an infectious vocal hook from MC Majestic. A fitting name for the bouncy beat, “Pogo” is a combination of Laidback Luke’s dirty Dutch roots and Majestic’s grime-style vocals creating a hard-hitting production with mass appeal. Fellow Dutch house champion Chuckie gives the track an entirely new feel, allowing Majestic’s lyrics to take center stage. Incorporating a Latin-flavored drum line with cascading synths, Chuckie forms a remake ready for the main stage. The remix package also includes works from Congorock, Deorro and H.P Vince.
After making way for experimental trap releases, MixMash Trap EP and Oliver Twizt’s “Let Me See You Do It,” Laidback Luke returns to his label with a production of his own. Aptly titled, “Pogo” commands listeners — live and digital — to bounce along with its Dutch synth waves and animated drumline. Even the brief vocal stints from Majestic encourage “bouncing to the beat like you’re jumping on a pogo.” Suitable for one of Luke’s mainstage outings, his most recent effort is a prime example of his evolving sound.
Micky Slim is a British producer who has teamed up with Majestic for a new track. “Dirty Freak” started out as the instrumental “I Am A Freak,” but is now getting risque vocals which dramatically change the track. The beat sounds like it is straight out of the roaring twenties with its funky horns and dirty bass. The lyrics add a fun touch; we can already see people singing “I like girls that get dirty,” at the top of their lungs. “Dirty Freak” has been featured in Laidback Luke’s sets and is now available on Mix Mash Records.
