Los Angeles based twin-turbo trap tag team, gLAdiator, has been making big waves all year with their hard, gritty, heavily hip-hop influenced sound. The two producers have asserted themselves as a force to be reckoned with at the intersection of bass music and hip-hop by remixing the likes of Jay Z and TLC, while also showcasing major talent with bass-gushing original work as well. The duo’s latest tune comes by way of their remix of “The Pit” by Michael Woods.
The original is a pulsing progressive house tune, perfect for a packed dance floor. gLAdiator then takes the original and makes it their own, fusing the build with heavy kicks, followed by a drop riddled with metalic industrial synths and a couple of quick samples. Replacing Michael Wood’s bumping sirens and thumping electro break down with their dark, minimal trap treatment, gLAdiator’s jaw grinding remix certainly reflects these producers’ promising talents.

Shortly after a very public dispute with Justin Bieber and his entourage, Michael Woods bounces back with this much anticipated release. “The Pit” stays true to all Woods’ aspects, including his big room approach. His darker follow-up to this summer’s “Clanga” delves into those industrial elements that created a gritty and metallic sound in his previous release. The Englishman’s initial purr-ing builds steadily and plunges into a brain-bending release – it’s a definite wall shaker. Can you think of a better way to bounce back from a rocky feud? Released through Michael Woods’ own Diffused Music, “The Pit” is available today.
At a club in South Korea this week, Justin Bieber allegedly took a swing at Michael Woods’ manager after the DJ refused to play hip hop. Woods tweeted this morning detailing the situation and how a shirtless Bieber muscled his way into the DJ booth, demanded his song requests be fulfilled and then took a swing at Woods’ manager after he was told to “fuck off” by Woods himself.
The party’s host, Ben Baller, told TMZ that Woods is blowing the event way out of proportion, claiming that heated words were exchanged but no punches were thrown.
And incase anyone was worried, Justin did get behind the decks after Woods’ set — and he got to play some hip hop.

Michael Woods gives us an inside look at the hedonistic lifestyle of a jet-setting, Miami-based DJ in his ‘Summer Nights’ tour diary. While many of us dream of living a life as over-the-top as Woods, only a select few of us will ever get the chance — and by few, I mean none. Embodying the true atmosphere and lifestyle of a top tier DJ’s sun-kissed life in Miami, Woods’ ‘Summer Nights’ tour diary features all of the unfiltered mayhem and over-the-top antics of one of dance music’s most charismatic talents. It’s a 6-minute lesson in how to party properly, not to mention Tommy Trash’s impressive Jaeger chugging talents.
Michael Woods returns with another blistering electro output to follow up March’s “Platinum Chains.” Although its percussive focal points are in line with 2013′s trend for minimal drops, “Clanga” adds a bit more electro to its festival-friendly breakdown. Flanked on either side by industrial melodies and a “funky fresh beats” sample, Woods’ latest adds a metallic twist on its banging bass line – giving proper consideration to the ‘clang’ in “Clanga.”
Since releasing his smash single “Platinum Chains” in March, English producer Michael Woods has been jet-setting across the globe with a packed touring schedule. With the impending festival season indicating no end in sight, Woods took a moment to preview “Clanga,” his forthcoming single slated for a June 17th release on his Diffused Music imprint. While the track’s “funky fresh beats” pre-drop sample may be a bit smirk-worthy, the electro-tinged percussive drop is no laughing matter. Taking a tonal twist on the minimal yet majorly effective approach employed by such main stage mainstays as “Epic” and “LRAD,” the aptly named “Clanga” will likely be lurking behind many a build this summer.
It’s no industry secret that the addition of anthemic vocals can propel a dance track from appreciated instrumental to crossover commercial bomb (see “Fade into Darkness” and “Calling (Lose My Mind)”). Michael Woods’s latest offering ”Platinum Chains” certainly qualifies as the former, and Starkillers & Dmitry KO have arrived with a soaring edit to try and achieve the latter.
By infusing Woods’ already dynamic production with Amba Shepherd’s lovely vocals from their own “Let the Love” release, the duo have successfully married two musical concepts in a decidedly Kaskade-like fashion. As a thank you token to the fans who supported them in Miami this year, Starkillers & Dmitry KO are making the custom edit available for download on the latter’s Soundcloud page below.
