coachella-day1

The Coachella Arts and Music Festival has been host to some of the most groundbreaking talent in music throughout its 14 year history. Although relatively modest, this year’s electronic dance music presence at Coachella is the largest since its 1999 debut. Staying true to form, Goldenvoice’s bookings represent some of the most exciting artists in electronic music today – a group whose talents extend across a broad swathe of sound and styles. With the 2013 lineup heavily expanding its electronic offerings, we felt it only appropriate to share our must-see picks from the viewpoint of four fans heading out to Indio for the type of musical experience only three days in the desert could provide.

Modestep & Teddy Killerz – Inside My Head (Original Mix) [Free Download]

modestep-teddy-killers-inside-my-head

Coming from across the pond this week is a new single that offers a refreshing break from the festival ballads February has ushered in. UK dubstep quartet Modestep teamed up with Russia’s Teddy Killerz on the downtempo drum-laced “Inside My Head.” Combining a deep bass, a penetrating vocal hook and rhymes from grime artist Ghetts, the moody track throws electric guitar and instrumentals in with dark and gloomy breakdowns. The track has been released in advance of the group’s debut album, Evolution Theory, and is available for a free download here.

Live dubstep group Modestep cover Coldplay’s “Paradise”

Modestep

Forward thinking live dubstep band Modestep are never ones for convention. Blending live piano, percussion, and guitar into a brilliant dubstep cover of Coldplay’s “Paradise,” the talented four-piece craft a monstrous re-imagining of the enchanting single. At times symphonic, at other times chaotic and calamitous, the cover teeters between moments of choral brilliance and surges of bestial bass, while always remaining epic. Though Josh Friend is no Chris Martin, his vocals certainly do justice to the talented Coldplay frontman. Check out the creative cover below.

Cartoon Ninjas Wage War on Mainstream Music in Latest Modestep Video

The London based live dubstep band Modestep are well known for their creative music videos. Their first two music videos (“Feel Good” & “Sunlight”) have amassed over 26 million views so far on Youtube. They look to continue this trend as their latest one, for their new single “Show Me A Sign,” has already hit over a million views in less than a week. While their first two videos depicted unlikely dubstep ravers, their newest music video is centered around a gang of four leather-clad female ninjas who are on a gruesome mission to eradicate commercial music. As we said… Modestep are creative. The track itself starts out as heavy dubstep before elements of DnB and Metal are introduced. “Show Me A Sign” comes out April 29th.

Modestep are a live dubstep band based in London. They recently garnered a lot of attention with the music video for their single “Feel Good.”  It went viral in January and picked up several million views in a matter of days. This lead to them being signed by a major label and the release of their second single “Sunlight” (out today). The video for “Sunlight” has been equally successful (already over 3 million views on youtube) and depicts a trio of senior citizens raging to dubstep, drinking heavily and engaging in general debauchery. UKF Dubstep – Modestep’s “Feel Good” Official Video

UKF Dubstep released an exclusive video for Modestep’s new track “Feel Good”. Modestep is a live dubstep group from London. Yes I said it LIVE dubstep.  This video is pretty sweet. It’s funny, and it rocks. They certainly have an interesting take on the genre, blending live drums, keyboards, vocals, and turntables. The samples in the song are housey with a slight wobble. Be sure to check out the keyboard/synth player with the CDJ throwing down the slaps. Their new CD, Dubking, drops February 7th. Check it out!
