While the Spanish deep house scene doesn’t get nearly as much press as its English counterpart, homegrown artists like Pablo Fierro are showing that siestas and soul can be a perfect match.
Hailing from the largest Canary Island of Tenerife, Fierro showcases his skills on “I Want It,” a smooth vocal track whose lumbering funk bass and catchy eponymous refrain would sound equally at home on a Hot Waves compilation as on Defected Records. Don’t snooze on this release, its stripped down charm and upbeat vibe could make some significant waves in Miami this spring. Head to Beatport to claim your copy today.
If you’re a regular listener of the weekly Defected In The House radio show, the name Copyright should already ring a bell. The London duo usually responsible for manning the Defected decks on the first hour of the label’s podcast every week, is out with a new EP entitled Lifted. There are few house tunes that can display a stronger element of positivity and sheer joy than the title track, featuring Andre Espeut. Conversely, young Spanish producer Pablo Fierro provides a bouncy and deep take on the track while Copyright’s second original from the release, “Sometimes” spotlights a jazzy sax riff and atop a bit of a tropical groove.
