Dillon Francis, Taco Bell-enthusiast and alleged Tiësto doppelgänger, has released his delightful moombahton remix to “Carried Away” as a free download, just as he did with his recent trap remix to Justin Timberlake’s ”Suit & Tie.“ Reworking Passion Pit’s summer anthem, Francis splices and transposes the vocals, accentuating the carefree vibe of the original with charismatic chords. The ensuing drop employs a feisty torrent of barking acid synths, and might just be one of the first (and best) well-known cases of acid moombahton. In regards to the tune, Francis remarked: “this and my suit and tie remix might be my favorites to date!”
I can almost hear Dillon Francis‘s personality toot, hoot, and blare through his latest remix for Passion Pit. A whimsical self-parody, Francis is a metaphorical Hawaiian shirt amongst polos. Still, his unwavering sense of humor avoids mitigating the concentrated force of his music. Instead, Dillon’s productions personify his own individuality, and in this case, through an amalgamation of lovestep, acid, and moombahton. Blissful chopped vocals float over the original chord progression before dropping into an avant garde acid-infused 112 bpm soiree, to wit, Dillon Francis in a nutshell. Acknowledging the production as one of his favorites to date, check past the break to see Dillon discuss the creative process in remixing Passion Pit.
Los Angeles-based production duo Tyler Blake and Michael Davis (or Classixx for those of you who tend towards those sticky sweet nu-disco sounds already) have long been known for spot on remixes for Phoenix, Mayer Hawthorne, Passion Pit, YACHT — the list goes on. They’ve put out some original work, but only now have announced the impending release of their first full length artist album Hanging Gardens on May 14th. The first tune off the LP, “Holding On,” is about as shiny as they come. Classixx recruits all the best elements of a blissful dance track — a snarling bass, twinkly top line, strings, piano riffs, and heartbreaking vocal. It’s an Endless Summer, y’all.
Tiesto picks up in the new year where he left off in 2012 — treating pop tracks to his big room remix remedy. Previously Tijs has taken his hand at Calvin Harris’s “Sweet Nothing,” David Guetta’s “Just One Last Time,” then Youngblood Hawke’s “We Come Running.” Next in line is none other than Passion Pit and their summer single, “Carried Away.” Tijs seems to have a way with indie pop, mastering his gigantic chords and euphoric energy around such vocals and mellow vibes. If you’re into Passion Pit’s delicate tunes and Tiesto’s grand sound, enjoy best of both worlds.

There are tons of up and coming DJs in the New York area but David Berrie is one of a few stand out talents. He recently offered a free download of his Goyte remix and is now doing the same with “Take A Walk.” The track’s build up is melodic and relaxing while the drop diverges into heavy synths and big room sounds. dBerrie took Passion Pit’s electro pop original and turned it into a dance floor ready tune. Are you feeling his remix?
