Pentamon – Nite (Original Mix)

There’s only so much buoyant nu-disco one can take before an inevitable descent into darkness. On “Nite,” Volta Bureau member Will Eastman introduces his brooding Pentamon project in fitting fashion. His debut single represents a relentless brand of subterranean techno that recalls Adam Beyer and his Drumcode legion with its sparse percussion, pounding kick and eerie atmospheric elements. Pentamon’s production prowess really shines on the track’s intricate and menacing builds which give way to esoteric vocal samples and a delightfully unyielding bass line. As the co-owner of Washington underground mecca U Street Music Hall, Eastman knows a thing or two about the darker side of techno, so expect plenty more in this vein from the seasoned producer.

Editors’ Selections: Week of February 11th, 2013

Editors’ Selections is an opportunity for your favorite Dancing Astronaut contributors to talk about some of the music they’re listening to that we might not always get an opportunity to post about from week to week. Sometimes it’s out there, sometimes it’s obscure, but you’ll always get a peak into what we’re loving behind closed doors.
