Los Angeles house producer Antonio Giacca’s latest big room release on PinkStar Records is rightfully making waves. “Calm Down” employs a novel concept that the tech house world has long understood and mainstream EDM has too often ignored: subtlety. Before breaking into inevitable chords and builds, Giacca judiciously teases the listener with vocal and synth snippets over a menacing bass line. The result? Tension builds and bombastic elements sound foreseen, rather than forced, when they finally reach anticipating ears. Aspiring producers, take note. Catch this single on Beatport now, because it’s bound for some serious airplay ahead.

Helvetic Nerds, Swiss supergroup consisting of names like EDX, Leventina, Dinka, Daniel Portman, Chris Reece and others, is out with a taste of their latest single “Blood Pressure.” The track largely ignores some of these artists’ trancier sensibilities and goes straight for the hard-hitting progressive house vibes. No word on a release date yet, but this will be out soon on PinkStar Records.
Fresh off the release of a few bootlegs and remixes — most notably their take on Jack Back’s “Wild One Two” — Disfunktion already has another production in the pipeline. Their latest effort, “No Matter,” is an uplifting progressive house track that features a building synth progression layered under the powerful vocals of the legendary Max C. Due out June 4th on PinkStar Records, this is another tune you should make space for on your summer playlist.
