Back off the heels of the much-teased “Something Right Meow,” European electro house protégé Mord Fustang returns to the digital jungle with a fresh cut from his heavyset studio artillery. We’ve seen the young producer draw comparisons to some of the genre’s hottest contenders, but for his latest single release there is a notable change in pace for this globetrotter. For the most part, “If You Want” trials a more compositionally tuned and vintage take on his rugged electro hallmarks than previous offerings to the Plasmapool collective. Joe Garston‘s sonic maturity belies his years. Long on thoughtful composition and short on cheap gimmicks, the electro house upstart’s nuanced productions are driven by an all-too-rare appreciation for progressive melody. If you haven’t heard “Forever” and “American Wasteland,” then it’s not too late to hop onboard the bandwagon. On his latest offering,”You’re So Cool,” Garston pairs diverse synth-work and complementary female vocals with just enough complextro elements to exhibit his skills without overplaying his hand. Catch the release out this week on Plasmapool.
