Nearly six months after releasing their previous single, “Union,” Rebecca & Fiona are at it again with their latest effort, “Hot Shots,” featuring Vice. The track is set aside exclusively for Dance (Red) Save Lives 2, which will be released via iTunes on November 25th. The song opens with dramatic piano keys paired with the Swedish duo’s signature contralto vocals that almost speak to listeners rather than sing. “Hot Shots” is not only equipped with full-bodied lead work, but explosive electro synths and an unrepressed rush of chords. The track is gearing up to be the songstresses’ newest dance floor weapon.
After Miley Cyrus‘ controversial performance at the VMA’s, talk about sexism shot through the roof. Jahan, one of the three members of Krewella, responded to Miley’s decisions on Tumblr to discuss the supposedly taboo subject of gender inequality. It’s also no surprise that Australian twins, Nervo, and Swedish duo Rebecca & Fiona, have also spoken out numerous times about sexism, the gender gap, and the male-dominated society in which we live.
Gary Richards, founder and CEO of HARD, is stepping up to the plate and plans on approaching this issue head-on. Next year, he’d like to have a music festival that solely features a female lineup: ”I have a concept for a show that’s all girl performers…It’s not a 70,000 person event. But I do see more females coming up and…I’m definitely going to do it in 2014.” The chief obstacle Richards will face is getting all of these female artists booked simultaneously, as he admits that pay will not be at the most desirable numbers. Hopefully the artists who are invited, however, will see the potential in Richards’ idea and that this festival could be the gateway to more powerful female influence on electronic music in the future.

As if we haven’t heard enough great news from Ryan Raddon over the past few weeks, he brings us yet another treat on this bleary Monday with the release of “Turn It Down Animals.” There’s something about this crowd-pleasing mashup that gets the audience riled up like no other; this was made crystal clear during Kaskade’s closing set at Paradiso Festival in late June when he first premiered the tune to a roaring audience. Kaskade‘s blend of his and Rebecca & Fiona‘s “Turn It Down” and Martin Garrix’s “Animals” has been the talk of 2013′s festival season ever since that memorable rainy day set and has been a climactic moment of almost every one of his performances since. Rebecca & Fiona are back–this time wielding a soulful dance hit that will carry listeners away like a roaring rip tide. The first single to be released from their second album (scheduled for debut later this year), “Taken Over” is an incredibly solid effort from the Swedish duo and undoubtedly promises to put them on other DJs’ watchlists for the remainder of 2013. Featuring strokes of genius from fellow countryman Style of Eye, this powerful mix from the double platinum artists exudes a literal smorgasbord of electrifying sounds that ranges from explosive synths to thundering lasers. This is an undeniably big release for Rebecca & Fiona and one that is sure to catapult the blonde bombshells further into stardom than ever before. Check out the official video and purchase below.
Rebecca & Fiona have been on the rise since collaborating with Kaskade, and have released a music video for, “Dance,” the latest single from their brand new album I Love You Man. “Dance” pays testament to what the duo is all about and the light, indie-dance sound reflected on their US debut album. The twosome bring their feel-good style — that was so popular in overseas — to the states, including the Sweden triple-platinum single “Bullets.” Head to iTunes today for I Love You Man and find the track list below the break.
Fresh off the announcement of their upcoming North American tour, Rebecca & Fiona have released the music video for their track “Dance.” The track itself is a slow tempo & chilled track with not too much going on in it. On the bright side, the low-keyness of the backing means that their beautiful vocals are really brought to the forefront. The music video is fairly trippy and features male model types wearing creepy old man masks. We’re not really sure how to interpret this, but have a look for yourself and enjoy the music!
An investigation by Dancing Astronaut has revealed that the Swedish government knowingly injects the country’s water supply with the chemical “Swedepop.” The chemical, which is produced in Sweden’s sparsely populated countryside, gives certain Swedes the ability to make music that achieves remarkable success in the United States — the target of this nefarious scheme. The program has been helped by high-profile American artists who willingly collaborate with the Swedes — most recently Kaskade. (more…)
“Turn It Down“, “Boy“, and “Bullets” have been a few of the big releases that Rebecca & Fiona have been a part of. Their soft melodic voice is perfect for the progressive producers to craft into dancefloor destroyers. Denzal Park’s specialty is adding their uplifting synths and making tunes even more ‘big room’ than they already are. You can see this in their previous release “Militia,” which created some serious waves of excitement when it hit the box office on August 26th. Let’s cut to the chase – both duo’s are headed towards tons of shows and even more money.
