No nonsense house music from the cream of British club land? It could only have ever been My Digital Enemy and Hoxton Whores. United for the first time for Roger Sanchez’s Stealth Records imprint, “Get Down” rolls with the grooves and celebrates some of the genres more timeless melodic hallmarks. With their Zulu Records imprint leaping from strength to strength and a debut compilation for Hotfingers enroute, My Digital Enemy return to the label in top form with a little help from two artists who have more than earned their keep on the European circuit. He may have kept us waiting well into 2013, but Roger Sanchez is back on the beat to preview the tone of his forthcoming full length endeavor. As the first single to emerge from Roots, Roger’s third artist album to date, GTO is back behind the microphone for this first peek of things to come from the Stealth Records ringleader. In true S Man style, vintage vibes and strong melodic resonance make “Troubleman” a strong addition to Sanchez’s generation-hopping discography of assorted house offerings. This is soulful and stylish house music that indicates yet another reason to believe that dance music might just be reclaiming its hold on the album format for 2013. Look for the full album May 20th on Roger’s own Stealth Records, DJ Sneak will provide a remix as well. (more…)

The ties between house institution Roger Sanchez and British duo Prok & Fitch run deep, dating back to the latter’s breakthrough release “Outro Lugar” on Sanchez’s Stealth Records. Six years later, the artists have made their collaborative debut with a jackin’ tech track out this week on the same label where it all started. Apparently “Take You There” was conceived when all of the above were hanging together in Ibiza, which helps explain its smooth synths, laid-back vocals, and buoyant vibe. The release also includes a Dub Mix and a more groove-driven Prok & Fitch Floorplay Remix. Catch them all on Beatport today.

“As always, Release Yourself is a reflection of my current dance floor. This year my style has definitely returned to a more jackin & latin influenced house sound, as well as getting into the deeper vibes. Fron New York to Ibiza, these are the sounds that dominated the floor for me!”

Earlier this week we told you that Stealth Records’ website had been taken down and replaced with a warrant calling for Roger Sanchez’s arrest. We’ve done some more investigating into the situation, speaking with a number of sources off the record and the woman named as the defendant in the case, Roger’s former manager and former director of Stealth Records, Olga Heijns.
Ms. Heijns tells Dancing Astronaut exclusively that she is a minority shareholder in Stealth and that she was its sole director until 2009. Her company, Unmanageable Artists, stopped representing Roger for bookings and management, and he subsequently fired her as the label’s director. We aren’t privy to why the two parted ways, but according to Ms. Heijns, it is “incorrect that I sued [Roger] to start with.” She claims that Roger and Stealth Records first sued her and her companies, forcing her to countersue, explaining the plaintiff and defendant designations on the warrant posted online.
