Germany’s Jewelz & Scott Sparks return to the release front with a two-track EP containing their newest singles “Hot Rod” and “White Sun.” While the duo have manifested a reputation for devastating, minimally-driven drops, their last release, “NYMSN,” was a progressive house output with a much friendlier disposition. Catering to their strengths, however, Jewelz & Scott Sparks once again evoke the biting minimal flair that previously put them in the spotlight. Though certainly less vicious than the force of “Toxic Rush,” both “Hot Rod” and “White Sun” channel a familiar, simplified charisma. While the former boasts a distinctive highway-outlaw riff, the latter takes a more melodic and layered approach. Check out both tracks past the break, released today on Flaming Records.

After the laudable success of both “Toxic Rush” and “Flashbang,” German duo Jewelz and Scott Sparks have amassed a reputation for creative minimally-layered house drops. Along these lines, Jewelz and Scott Sparks have released their newest single “NYMSN,” or “New York Make Some Noise.” Though less deafening and sinister than “Toxic Rush” and “Flashbang,” “NYMSN” makes up for its lack of brawn with a soaring progressive house melody. On the whole, “NYMSN” maintains the same minimalistic appeal from previous releases. “NYMSN” is released today on Cr2 Records.
Sometimes a track will completely blindside you and leave you thinking, “Where the hell did that just come from?” it doesn’t happen often but when it does that track always seems to stick. Jewelz & Scott Sparks latest collaboration is that type of production. Opening with an unassuming progressive build, the type we’ve heard a thousand times before, the duo take their sweet time before throwing a flashbang into the mix. The drop here is disorienting, blasting through the build with a stripped down bass line that takes a walk through a hollow warehouse of white noise. Sounding an alarm as it moves and grooves, “Flashbang” has a similar feel to Nari & Milani‘s break-out hit, “Atom” – powerful, punchy and completely unexpected.

Fedde Le Grand and Funkerman’s Flamingo Recordings showcase the work of new talents Jewelz and Scott Sparks on their latest release of “Toxic Rush.” Already seeing support by David Guetta, this track plays it safe with a minimal progressive approach, devoid of vocals but layered with a strong punchy beat. In a time when everyone is striving to make songs bigger and louder to fit the popular big-room sound, its refreshing to see artists tone it down and take a minimal approach.
