The lush green grass of The Empire Polo Club grounds swelled with half-naked twenty-somethings, bustling and buzzing like tributaries of people cutting through the crowd, flowing forth to the each of Coachella‘s six stages. The massive tents provided little relief from the desert’s sweltering heat, but underneath the Yuma tent, where Luciano would close that evening, was an air-conditioned safe haven. For those daring enough to brave the heat, the Sahara tent presented a spread of talent, including Boys Noize and Skrillex as the tandem Dog Blood. Our first day spent in Indio was defined by the Sahara and Yuma tents – and they will likely define the rest of our stay here.

Two electronic music heavyweights came together during WMC at Villa 221 to put on a performance only memorable enough for a WMC occasion. Seth Troxler and Tiga, two names that sit atop the DJ pyramid, combined their DJ dexterity for a two-hour voyage of the most forward-thinking and innovative sounds in dance music. If you follow the two on Twitter you know their not just acquaintances through the same field of work but actually pretty affable towards one another. The set is almost like two kids trying to out do each other with each track — in the most playful may possible, of course. It’s not often a set like this gets recorded so cherish the moment and hit play.Posted by

Subb-an releases EP on Visionquest, features collaborations with Footprintz, Seth Troxler and Tom Trago
Rising underground DJ/Producer Subb-an has finally released his highly anticipated Rain EP on the hotly tipped Visionquest imprint. The title track on the EP with F o o t p r i n t z’s ventures away from his deep house roots and dabbles in the world of modern day electronica. Dreamy chord sequences and a set of alluring vocals make up the body of the track and demonstrates that Subb-an doesn’t limit his production abilities to a single sound or genre. The track comes with a remix from Adam Shelton that adds an extra kick for those yearning for a more dance friendly alternative. (more…)Posted by
Seth Troxler and Craig Richards are set to throw a Miami Music Week pool party to remember. Wednesday, March 20th from 3pm-9pm, they will be hosting their Heel to Steel Cruise party on The Biscayne Lady. If you don’t yet have a seat on the boat with your name on it, you’re in luck. Dancing Astronaut is giving away a pair of VIP tickets for a lucky winner and a friend to board in style. The boat will be docked at The Bayside Marina behind the Hard Rock Cafe and boarding begins at 1:45pm ahead of the 3:00pm cruise time. Good luck!
Last week, Damian Lazarus’ global Rebel Rave tour stopped by SRB in Brooklyn and alongside Verboten, created a ten hour party experience lasting well into the morning hours. The night featured Culprit label owners Droog, recent Essential Mix inductee Amirali, the Infinity Ink duo, one half of Art Department, and rising underground talent Subb-an. The stacked lineup drew in hundreds of fans and packed out the miniature warehouse space for hours upon hours of the best techno and house music around. With beefed up sound and visual effects, the party will resonate as a memorable occasion for New York house heads. I had the chance to sit down with Lazarus later in the week to discuss his label, the world tour, and some special surprises he has planned for this year’s Beyond Wonderland festival.
