It’s been nearly a year since three stabbings threatened to mar Swedish House Mafia’s legendary appearance at Milton Keynes Bowl. According to Milton Keynes Citizen, charges relating to the incident in which three people were injured, one of whom with a punctured lung, have been pressed against three men. The official court date is scheduled to be held on May 15, 2013.
For those of us who just can’t seem to let the trio go, there is now a new way to experience the Mafia’s final show – this time in the form of a mobile app called Lisnr. The app will allow concertgoers access to free exclusive content just by being present at SHM’s final show. The goal is to expand the visuals for the Masquerade Motel in Los Angeles and the groups’ two final shows at Ultra Music Festival by enhancing the viewing experience. What that means we are not entirely sure, but since most fans already have their phones out Instagramming and recording the event, a mobile application was a logical move. Axwell had this to say; “”[This] will allow us to come together with our fans for a totally unique experience. Together, as one, for one last rave!””
Swedish House Mafia have revealed the full lineup for the highly-anticipated North American leg of One Last Tour, and over a dozen acts have been booked to open for the global phenomenon. While New York will be treated to Pete Tong, AN21, Otto Knows and Armand Van Helden’s return to Madison Square Garden, the trio have nothing but love for the West Coast as well. AN21 & Max Vangeli will hit San Fransisco while Nero, Alesso, Zedd, Monsta and others will join in on LA’s Masquerade Motel. If you missed out on tickets you can either head to Canada or fly south; SHM’s last-ever U.S. performance will take place at this year’s Ultra Music Festival.
It’s inevitable that countdowns will always spark controversy, that’s just the nature of the beast. Some tracks will be snubbed, some overlooked, and some ranked higher than you may have expected. We’ve already gone over our ranking criteria at length but despite our own self-imposed guidelines, 2012 proved to be more difficult to rank than years past. With the EDM explosion officially in full swing throughout the year, the sheer number of releases was mind numbing, and — consequently — nearly impossible to rank. There has been no greater challenge for the editors at Dancing Astronaut than creating the list of the Biggest Tracks of 2012.
You have already heard the picks for the biggest tracks of 2012; 50-41, 40-31, and 30-21 now check out which tracks made 20-11 below the break.
Well, as predicated by the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, it’s the end of the world as we know it. Unfortunately, only one of us is John Cusack, so the rest of us have no choice but to party into oblivion. At least we can thank the Mayans for conceding doomsday to a Friday. To accompany Armageddon, we have provided a list of tunes that will add appropriate theme music to the backdrop of imminent annihilation. Hopefully, you can find consolation in their uplifting message. Godspeed.
Best of Instagram is a feature from Dancing Astronaut that showcases our favorite pictures from our favorite DJs on Instragram each week. This week, we’ve got gems from David Guetta, Chromeo, Steve Aoki, and more.
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy’s aftermath, we have seen countless artists band together to raise money and awareness for those affected by the storm. The Swedish House Mafia’s Black Tie Rave on February 28th plans to continue this trend, donating 100% of the net proceeds to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund.
Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster’s auctioning system and which will continue until December 16th. The show, scheduled to take place at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom, is a strict black tie and ball gowns affair – with an age limit of 21+. I guess it’s time to rent a tuxedo.
It’s not over yet, folks. We thought One Last Tour‘s last bit of news came in the form of The Final Announcement, but it seems NYC fans have more to which they can look forward. Continuing the theme of cryptic and partitioned disclosure, Swedish House Mafia offered the tweet below the break yesterday evening:
Swedish House Mafia just released another video announcing two new stops on their One Last Tour. The boys in black will be performing in Bucharest on December 14th and Helsinki on December 20th. Additional tickets have also been released for their November 24th show in Stockholm, Sweden.
Before embarking on their last mega-tour, Swedish House Mafia asked fans to submit photos resembling their iconic three dot logo. Ranging from eggs and nail polish to bagels and bottle caps, the results are in — along with a five-minute mini-mix of their final album (released Monday), Until Now.
