Hidden away in the northern corner of South Beach is the W Hotel, where Sol Republic, Motorola, Trident, and SiriusXM teamed for an intimate day of drinking, music, and fun during Miami Music Week. Hosted in the afternoons of Wednesday to Friday, the Moto Music Lounge played host to the who’s who of dance music. Secluded in its undisturbed corner, major DJs strolled in for their rare minutes of rest and conversation — with industry folks and peers alike. Some gave interviews, others stepped to the decks, and most managed to catch a quick breather over drinks and candid conversations. Below, we bring you the highlights, a look at what DJs do when cameras, fans, and the insanity of Miami Music Week are not engulfing them.

When every DJ on the planet descends on Miami in mid-March there is never a shortage of surprise appearances and unbelievable collaborations. The concentration of talent in South Beach always guarantees that the top producers in the world will be rubbing elbows with one another, usually behind the decks. Yesterday, during a live broadcast of SiriusXM’s “UMF Radio,” Calvin Harris was joined by Afrojack at the W Hotel to spin a back to back set of their biggest hits. It was the first time that the two juggernaut producers have spun together and could possibly be the early start of a collaboration in the future. Be sure to tune in live today as Sirius continues their broadcast from the W Hotel – things are bound to get interesting.

Bringing a heavier sound to its rotation, SiriusXM’s Electric Aquarium series featured the stage-stomping Krewella trio. On a cold Wednesday night, Krewella recounted stories of their meteoric rise in 2012. Much like the footage caught in their behind the scenes documentary series, Rain Man, Jahan, and Yasmine recapped their year from no bookings on New Year’s Eve to their current frenetic touring lifestyle. Yasmine also revealed tidbits about their upcoming LP, which promises to be full of surprises with many collaborations and over 60 songs recorded.

Spanish sensation Danny Avila makes his New York debut this Friday, and we’ve got a special opportunity for one lucky Dancing Astronaut reader. One winner and three friends will receive passes to see not one set from Danny on Friday — but two: first during an intimate in-studio session at SiriusXM radio, and then late night at Pacha NYC. However, you’ll also win a VIP table at Pacha with a free bottle of champagne, just so you can end the day in style. This contest will run for just 24 hours, before we choose a winner Thursday evening. We ask that you do not enter if you knowingly cannot make it to both of the shows or if you’re under 21, but if those two matters are all squared away, enter through the Punchtab contest below.

We’ve been fans of Sebastian Ingrosso’s Refune Radio podcast since the beginning, and we’re excited to inform you that episode five will be premiered not on iTunes like past episodes, but on SiriusXM’s Electric Area. The latest installment of the Swedish House Mafia member’s radio show will be aired for the first time today at 4PM EST, with replays happening Saturday at 9PM, Monday at 8PM, and Thursday at 11PM.
Of course, Refune Radio will also be made available on iTunes, though it won’t be until next Friday July 20th. In the meantime, feel free to subscribe to the show on iTunes — and it doesn’t hurt to subscribe to our own Axis podcast while you’re at it either.
Update: We’ve been tipped on a rip of the show that’s live on SoundCloud right now. Listen to it below.

The Midtown Manhattan offices of Sirius XM are, in a word, unassuming. Checking in with security and taking the elevators up to the 36th floor on a dreary weekday night, it was natural to wonder how the building could host an artist like Laidback Luke. But the SiriusXM lobby was transformed from entryway to full-out dance party as Laidback Luke mixed the debut episode of his new weekly Electric Area show Super You & Me Radio. A select few fans and listeners were treated to a typically high-energy set from Luke – as well as a sit-down interview with the Dutch legend and SiriusXM host Danny Valentino. Dancing Astronaut was there for all the action; click past the break for our review.
