If you are looking for a mix to listen to as you unwind after the long weekend then look no further than the latest Sole Fixtape mixed by Australian producer Cassian. With over an hour of bouncy tropi-cool vibes and nu-disco grooves, the latest Fixtape is the perfect soundtrack to a day spent floating in a pool under the late May sun. Not subscribing to the “new = good” theory of DJing, Cassian pieces together a mix with classic nostalgia and brand new cuts – and leaves us scratching our chins as we try to piece together an official track list.Posted by
Plastic Plates is the latest DJ to take on Sole Bicycles’ Fixtape series and the Kitsune-supported Aussie delivers a series of sounds that have us jumping right out of our desks and into a plane, train, or automobile. Summer is just around the corner, festival seasons is at our door, and Plastic Plates’ sunny sounds are just one more reminder of that.
Oliver, the two man production team that recently bestowed upon us their Mechanical EP, have crafted quite the mixtape for Solé Bicycles’ most recent Fixtape. A DJ’s mixtape is an opportunity to operate differently than he might in a club or festival environment, and this one in particular really struck all of the right chords. It’s gritty like French electro, sparkling like nu-disco, and techy-deep all at once. It features some obvious crate-digging (a Gessafelstein track from 2008 among others), but also some underrated treasures from recent months from Djedjotronic, Daniel Avery, Eli Escobar, and Supernova.
