Blende tickled the ears of listeners throughout 2012 with his nu-disco electro hybrid productions, landing him a spot on DA‘s Artists to Watch in 2013 . Beginning the new year with a preview to his Synapse EP, Blende taunted fans with the first glimpse of his collaborative effort with La Bombe labelmate Surrender! on the EP’s title track.Jump below the break for a listen to the twinkling extended play.
After finally releasing the last installment of the Spotify-only Eject EP last month, Cazzette is extending the excitement even longer by releasing the music video for “Surrender” this week. The film-like video opens with a motionless man on the floor and a seductive blonde with snake bites leaving the scene with a Cazzette logo-emblazoned suitcase. What follows is the undead but scarred man’s quest to find the contents of the suitcase; through subtitles, gun-slinging and seduction he is lead to a Cazzette show, where he presumably surrenders his stolen heart. Relying more on cinematic quality than party scenes, the video also leaves more questions than answers. But plot resolution or no plot resolution, the video at the very least provides a good soundtrack to scratch your head to.
Kaskade’s mashups have become a staple of his world-class sets. Every so often (on a Monday), Kaskade will release his masterful mashups for free to his fans. Yesterday was one of those days. For this week’s KMM, Kaskade has paired “Surrender,” a lesser-known Kaskade original off 2006′s The Calm, with Hard Rock Sofa and Swanky Tunes’ euphoric original “Apogee.” The mashup is simple but effective. The combination of these two tracks is uncannily natural. Kaskade has an unparalleled ear for harmony, and his mashups are direct evidence of this. Pick up “Surrender Apogee” for free from SoundCloud.
2012 was a huge year for dance music, championed by the every growing club scene in Las Vegas, an influx of national tours and festivals and the undeniable mainstream acceptance of the “EDM” sound. Only a week into the new year and 2013 is already proving to be an even bigger one for our beloved genre – made abundantly clear today as the Wynn properties (Encore Beach Club, Surrender, Tryst, XS) have just announced their expansive residency roster for the upcoming year. From Bassnectar to David Guetta, Avicii to Loco Dice, Wynn’s extensive cadre of nightclubs have the sounds to satisfy the full spectrum of electronic music fans.
Managing partner of XS, Jesse Waits, had this to say;
“Our team has worked day and night to present an unrivaled roster of residencies again in 2013 including both major headliners and the DJs we believe to be the next superstars of this genre. We hope to maintain our reputation as the mecca of dance music through these exclusive partnerships.”
Check out the full list of residencies after the break. (more…)
One of our Artists to Watch 2013, Blende has already started the new year off right with a collaboration with fellow La Bombe imprint resident Surrender! Further asserting his promise in 2013, Blende’s touches on the collaboration are undeniable. On “Synapse,” the two establish a sound footprint for the nu-disco/electro hybrid style with disco-tinged arpeggios and gritty synthesis. One part thunderous and groaning, the other melodic and funky, “Synapse” represents another sound offering from the La Bombe imprint and one hell of a start to 2013. No official release date yet, but expect this one to go on sale sometime in February.
