Bassjackers and Quintino have revived Spencer & Hill’s chart-topping electro track “Surrender” almost seven months after the original release. Quintino’s take, which was first previewed shortly after the original, features progressive leads that drop into melodic synths and pumping kick drums. His Dutch compatriots, the Bassjackers, offer a different take, swapping traditional progressive house stylings for grinding electro stabs and bleeps, reminiscent of Afrojack’s sound. Give both remixes a listen and head over to Beatport to pick up your favorite.
Earlier this year we, like others, noted how Las Vegas has started to morph into an American Ibiza — a mecca for DJs to be treated like kings and play in megaclubs on the scale only Las Vegas can provide. Even David Guetta said that “there is a new energy here that I really, really love.” With single clubs boasting 20 or 30 resident DJs, it is hard to disappoint almost any electronic fan.
This footage from the Wynn Resorts is a testament to how much the scene has grown and features video from Encore Beach Club, Tryst, XS, and Surrender over the crowd-flooded Memorial Day Weekend holiday. The video features the biggest names in dance music like Steve Angello, Deadmau5, Skrillex, David Guetta, Tiesto, and Avicii and shows their time behind the scenes as well as on stage. There are few videos that get us excited these days, but the Wynn just has so much talent it constantly reminds us that moving to Vegas wouldn’t be that bad.
Up and coming Australian Producer Anthony Maniscalco, known better as Hook N Sling, has just released his newest single “Surrender”, a promising big room tune. Melodic in every sense of the word, “Surrender” transitions catchy piano keys into uplifting synths beautifully, delivering that quintessential progressive build up. Cementing the track’s drop are powerful vocals from Jon Hume, lead singer of Evermore. The fellow countryman’s indie rock background gives the obvious house tune a more edger feel. Something we’ve seen work well as of late, think Dirty South and Those Unusual Suspects or Alesso and Keane. Up next for Hook N Sling is another collaboration with the Nervo girls, stay tuned for that one!

As the countdown to Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas crosses the 2-week mark, fans are rounding up their groups of friends in preparation for what could be the single biggest party of the year. Last year’s event was an enormous success on many levels, and this year’s edition is poised to reach even greater heights.
While the festival itself runs 3 nights from Friday June 8th to Sunday June 10th, a dizzying selection of EDM artists will be playing daytime and nighttime parties all over Las Vegas during the Insomniac-sponsored “EDC Week”. So if you and your friends need some help in staying organized and making sure you don’t miss out, click past the break for a full calendar of EDC Week events and planning resources: (more…)
We’ve been telling you about the constantly growing list of DJs signing exclusive residencies in Las Vegas, but the 2012 lineup of artists that’ll be at the various Wynn properties throughout the year is too big not to share. Between Encore Beach Club, Surrender, Tryst, and XS, over thirty artists will be calling the Wynn / Encore their home in Sin City throughout 2012 — and it symbolizes the hotel’s huge investment in electronic music. Among the artists on the roster are such names as Afrojack, Calvin Harris, Alesso, Dada Life, and Tiesto. David Guetta will be bringing his F*** Me I’m Famous party to Encore Beach Club, and other familiar names like the Manufactured Superstars, Max Vangeli, Nervo, Skrillex, and Steve Angello are all on the list. Other clubs in Vegas have tried to bring in talent like this, but the breadth and depth of this list will make it hard for anyone to top. Is Vegas the new Ibiza? The likening has never seemed more appropriate
2012 is already showing huge promise for Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom. The Swedish duo known as Dada Life have been touring the East Coast showering everyone in attendance in bananas and champagne — just see our “Behind The Booth” video if you don’t believe us. Surrender nightclub at the Wynn in Las Vegas is already home to Aoki’s House featuring Steve Aoki every Friday, but this weekend Dada Life joins in on the party, where the only rules are the rules of Dada. If the two Swedes’ previous history is anything to go by, this trip should be wild.
Three lucky winners will have the chance to meet the duo and spend the night in Dada Land. For everyone else who just wants to “Kick out the Epic Motherfucker,” head to Surrender at the Wynn this Saturday night.
We’ll admit that a world-class DJ like Tiesto never really seemed like the kind of guy to have a residency in a spot called “The Joint,” but thankfully he’s doing things a bit bigger for 2012. Our top EDM act of 2011 has announced that he’s relocating to the Wynn / Encore for exclusive residencies at Encore Beach Club, Surrender, and XS. These are three of Dancing Astronaut’s favorite places to party when in the City of Sin, and we’re excited for all that Tijs has in store for the year. His official debut will take place at XS on Saturday February 4th as part of the Super Bowl weekend festivities. Tickets are available for purchase now; from past experience, you should probably get there early.
Why isn’t Halloween a nationally recognized holiday? Nearly all young professionals and students go out and treat it as one of the biggest occasions of the entire year. You spend time planning your costume and where you’re going to party. Do corporate offices really want you to come in the next day hungover and less productive than normal? Of course not, but that’s what sick days are for. Hopefully this guide makes you want to stay a few extra days in the city of sin, so if you do decide to lengthen your stay make sure to keep this in mind: If you decide to go out, make sure you crush it. “I have work tomorrow” and “I have an early flight to catch,” are not valid excuses to tank a night out in one of the best cities in the entire world. If you are in that category, well, you might as well not have gone in the first place.
In this guide, we’ll break down the daily EDM events going down in each venue. That being said, we have a disclaimer. XS Nightclub decided to go balls to the wall and absolutely blow out their lineup. You could book a room in the Wynn or Encore and never even have to leave for the entire weekend. While new venues and different hotels add to the experience, are you really going to miss Avicii, Axwell, Alesso, Deadmau5 or Afrojack? That’s what we thought. Anyhow, make your decisions accordingly and thoroughly, any funny sexual excursions embarked upon during Halloween weekend that you would like to share with us can be sent to contact@dancingastronaut.com.
“Surrender” is a song made in tribute to Surrender Nightclub in the Encore Resort Hotel in Sin City. Sidney Samson has made numerous appearances there for “Aoki’s House” and the folks at Dancing Astronaut have been frequent attendees. Surrender dubs as Encore Beach Club during the day and is one of the premier nightclubs in Las Vegas. The track itself reminds me a lot of Afrojack’s “Amanda“, if you are a fan of extended bleeps and horns you will n-joy raging to this.
NOTE: Check out Steve Aoki and Sidney Samson together this Friday at Surrender!
