Though the Phase 1 lineup was leaked last week by Avicii, Ultra officially announced the complete Phase 1 today. While the headlining acts haven’t changed, Ultra has included a plethora of new “live” acts for the first installment of their lineup. DA favorite Disclosure have been added, along with Major Lazer, Modestep, and Rudimental. Check out the full lineup here. In tandem with their Phase 1 release, Ultra has already begun hyping Phase 2, claiming their intentions to create “a lineup that will fuse the mainstream and the underground…a lineup complete with an unprecedented array of Deep House and Techno artists.” With Richie Hawtin on the bill and Carl Cox returning with his famous stage, Ultra is laying the foundation to fulfill this promise. The biggest question on my mind remains: where is Pryda?
Ultra has also released the official Phase 1 teaser video, and as expected, it’s quite tantalizing. Watch the video above, and start preparing for the Phase 2 announcement.
Madeon, who has become perhaps the most exciting young talents in the EDM world , has been on a real hot streak lately. His remix of Martin Solveig’s “The Night Out” was a runaway success and he has been killing it at festivals this summer. Luckily for us, it seems as though the prodigal Frenchman is almost ready to release some new original material. The video above is a teaser for an upcoming track titled “Finale.” It features vocals from indie rock singer Nicholas Petricca and sounds slightly Pendulum-esque, incorporating some drum-n-bass style elements and changing up his usual nu-disco sound. In any case, we’re positive it is going to be an absolute monster of a hit and we’re really excited to watch and see what Madeon can achieve over the next year.
When we first pressed play on Basto’s newest contribution, “I Rave You,” we weren’t expecting to like it as much as we did. We love when songs start off one way and then drop into something totally unexpected, which is what Basto’s done with this one. While some fans might be disappointed by the lack of his typical piano synths — which were used heavily in “Again and Again” — we’re happy that they’re gone. The progressive build reminds us of “Chasin’,” but the drop diverges into something different and distorted. We’re not even entirely sure how to describe the sound but we like it even if it has the potential to get annoying after awhile.
We’ve been eagerly awaiting AN21 and Max Vangeli’s People Of The Night release, and now it’s officially coming “Summer 2012.” Summer kicks off on June 20th this year, so we could see it appear any time afterwards… or hopefully beforehand.
Between launching a clothing line, a radio station, an incredibly successful college tour, and even having his own web video series, we seriously didn’t think there was was anything else left for Tiesto to do. A new video posted on his YouTube channel reveals that something is in store for April. The video is mainly a smattering of footage from gigantic gigs from around the world, which could really mean anything.
It could be another huge show like his Home Depot extravaganza, but it also could be something completely different. Tiesto hasn’t put out a new album in quite some time, so it could also be related to some upcoming new tunes. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more on the situation, but something tells us that there’s a whole lot more to come from Tiesto, and this video is more than meets the eye.
Update: Tiesto’s original Tweet hints that the surprise may actually be a new album. People we trust say we could start hearing more as soon as later this week.
Last we heard from Hysteria Records they were teasing the Bingo Player’s new release, “L’Amour,” and now they’re at it again with “Bazinga.” The record label only recently acquired Kenneth G but this Amsterdam native is already bringing the heat. “Bazinga,” with its acid synths and massive dutch-inspired drop, is a gem amidst rhinestones. We implore you to play this track at full volume! If you can’t wait until March 5th check out “Tjoppings” or “Konichiwa Bitches,” his collaboration with Nicky Romero.
We’ll admit that Tiesto and Steve Aoki doesn’t exactly feel like the most obvious combination, but “Tornado” is a track that manages to blend their own unique sounds quite well. Tiesto says that this is “the loudest track [he's] ever worked on” and Steve describes the drop as “winding heavy.” It’s set for release in two weeks on November 15th, but this teaser should tide you over until this tornado touches down.
Hot off the heels of his recent collab with Nicky Romero, Robbert Hardwell has released yet another massive teaser video. His latest gem entitled ‘Cobra’, features his signature big chord build-ups, reminiscent of ‘Zero 76‘ and ‘The World‘. The video is a montage of big festival footage from EDC and Ultra, a testament to the kind of year Hardwell has had. Were it not been for the likes of Avicii and Alesso, 2011 could easily have belonged to Hardwell. His consistency throughout the year definitely warrants him as one of the top producers of the year.
It’s been an amazing year so far for Hardwell, releasing numerous much talked about remixes and hits like ‘Zero 76′ together with Tiesto and his own single ‘Encoded’, reviewed as a peak-time anthem by many. But also as a DJ playing gigs all over the world, supporting Tiesto on his North America tour and Ibiza and headlining all the big festivals this coming summer season. This all was topped by his debut at the leading dance event Sensation in Prague 28th of May.
Now the youngster is back with the follow up! ‘The World’ is again a track which holds that unique Hardwell signature. A massive lead building to a huge climax and releasing some tough energetic beats. This all with a feel-good drive and catchy melody. ‘The World’ is one of those prog-housers that makes you get up on your feet and start dancing instantly.
I’ve been slacking lately and I forgot to post this little preview when it came out. I remember this track tearing it up at TAO this year. Excited that it drops so soon. Rest assured, Dancing Astronaut will have the release.
