As it approached midnight, I stood in the enormous line for the ladies’ room at Ruby Skye. Girls chattered about their hurting feet, how to get behind the red velvet rope for VIP, and of course when Thomas Gold would be taking the stage. Suddenly the line went silent for a split-second, and squeals of excitement began to echo as Thomas Gold’s first selections burst through the speakers.
You might remember The Temper Trap from their 2009 song “Sweet Disposition” which after being remixed by Axwell & Dirty South quickly became a anthem. “Trembling Hands” is the latest single from the Australian indie-rock group and this time Benny Benassi takes his turn at remixing. The melody is euphoric and uplifting as Benny uses his style to create a truly emotional song. This track could definitely work its way into the festival circuit, especially the bassier dub mix which is also available on Beatport.

A remix can mean many things to many people. In hip-hop I tend to like the original and I’m often not interested in hearing any remixes. With dance music I want a remix because I want the vocals and melody to be presented in a style that fits my dance tastes. In general, I pick a song in the one version I like the best, and stick with that forever. But here we find a song that is excellent and completely different as an indie rock song and as an electro house song. Here is the music video for The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition.”
I realize we’ve already made your day with that song but Sweet Disposition is a double whammy, we warned you. Two of Dancing Astronaut’s favorite friendly neighborhood DJ’s, Dirty South and Axwell, made a tremendous remix of this song that has become one of the anthems for this summer. Which one will you choose?
