The Magician’s monthly Magic Tap is a listening adventure of sorts. The mix never comes with a tracklist and is always filled with a slew of exclusive unreleased music. More often then not it’s where I discover a lot of fresh new material that ends up being the tracks I play on repeat for months at a time. Episode thirty-one features Duke Dumont’s remix to Haim’s “Falling,” Hot Natured’s forthcoming release “Reverse Skydiving,” and Bicep and Ejeca recent free giveaway “You.” The five and twenty-nine minute marks are unreleased gems that will surface eventually in all of your music libraries. Give this mixtape one listen and you’ll be an instant Magic Tape convert.

For this morning’s mix, we’re wishing you a very happy nu disco Thanksgiving with SlothBoogie’s guestmix from a Plastic Plates show back in February of this year. SlothBoogie, both a blog and a DJing team based out of the UK, present some of the best from the likes of GLOVES, Oliver, Sam Sparro, The Magician, Kolombo, and a multitude of other multi-talented starlets out there doing the do. We don’t know about you, but we’re thinking this is going to be good and groovy to slap on the speakers while basting your turkey.

RAC, or Remix Artist Collective have made a name for themselves by remixing countless indie rock tracks and now, for the first time, their own production is getting the remix treatment. The Magician has sprinkled some of his magic music dust all over RAC’s first single, “Hollywood,” and the result is a perfect summer tune. His remix maintains the feel of the original but with minimal layering adds major funk to the indie dance tune. These dance-y, disco productions have been popping up all over the place lately, taking listeners back in time with their old-school sounds, breaking the mold of the usual, archetypal club mixes. RAC, Penguin Prison, and The Magician are the perfect trifecta and we hope to hear more collaborations from them.
