Our 2012 Essential Mix of the Year winner, Thomas Gold, is bringing his Fanfare World tour to Roseland Ballroom on January 26th for what promises to be the perfect antidote to your winter blues. For our readers in New York City, this is one show you are not going to want to miss.
Every Saturday night at 1am in the UK, Pete Tong allows an artist of his choosing to take over the Radio 1 airwaves for two full hours. The Essential Mixis legendary and for many of these DJs and producers, the pressure feels immense. A stellar mix can shoot you to recognition, solidify a career, or facilitate a comeback. Although with the generous input of fans, Pete Tong does eventually crown an Essential Mix of the year himself (last year: Above & Beyond), we also put our heads together to decide on the ten mixes from 2012 that made us listen again, and again, and again.

Always one to connect with his New York fans, Gold returns to the big apple to play Roseland Ballroom on January 26th for an extra special affair. After much hype and anticipation, we’ve patiently awaited release information regarding Thomas Gold’s final single of 2012, “Miao.” Following “Eyes Wide Open” from Phazing, and “The Wave” and “Sing2Me” from Axtone, “Miao” is coming off an unexpected label — Calvin Harris’ Fly Eye Records. While “Miao” has been featured in Gold’s bootleg heavy sets all year, Fly Eye finally took to their Facebook page to reveal the album’s artwork and December 25th release date. The anticipation is due to last only a few more weeks, so preview Thomas Gold’s next original production and keep your eyes peeled for its release.

Last summer, before Thomas Gold started his official Fanfare radio show, he played trial and error with the idea — in this case under the Goldcast moniker. The third episode of said podcast went relatively under the radar and displayed Gold’s tech house side. Recorded live from the legendary Cafe Mambo in Ibiza — the island’s premier pre-party hotspot — this mix features the Balearic vibes that the White Isle has come to represent. Featuring exclusive edits to Julien Jabre’s “Swimming Places” and Shapeshifters’ “Lola’s Theme,” this mix showcases a side of Thomas Gold that has gone unnoticed. (more…)

It’s no secret that we’re fan of Thomas Gold livesets, and his latest episode of his radio show Fanfare does not disappoint. Gold has his usual selection of big room bangers, but he also has a few upcoming tracks that are set to be bombs.
e’s got DJ Obek and Ambush’s “Craissy” and Calvin Harris’ “Sweet Nothing,” but also the unassuming banger from Inners called “Silhouettes.”
The best track on the podcast is probably the amazing Duvision remix to Project 46 and Donna Lewis’ “You & I,” which was released a few weeks ago. Thomas seems to be keeping his latest Goldlegs under wraps in the lead up to his November 3rd Essential Mix debut, incorporating the “Finally” vs “Trio” mashup that he’s been dropping for a while now. Be sure to let us know which tracks are your favorite and what you’d like to see in his Essential Mix in the comments.
