With winter dominating the calendar for a majority of the year in Canada, the highly desirable summer season is heartbreakingly short by comparison. Thus, UnionElectronic and Ink Promotions aim to solidify summer memories with an aural feast of bass, however brief the warm weather may be. Chasing Summer Music Festival, the largest outdoor electronic dance music festival in Western Canada, will take place in the historic Fort Calgary in Calgary, Alberta on August 9th and 10th. Tiësto and Above & Beyond will headline the weekend along with Wolfgang Gartner, Krewella, Tommy Trash, and more.
To gear up for Chasing Summer, we’ve got a great opportunity for a devoted Canadian reader plus one of their lucky friends to attend the festival with a pair of VIP passes and to meet one of the greatest DJs of this generation, Tiësto.

Above & Beyond brought Group Therapy to Canada on day one, and Steve Angello closed out the RA Centre grounds on day two, but the third day of Escapade Music Festival surpassed the peaks of the average dance music weekend with Tiësto, Quintino, Alvaro, and others celebrating Canada Day in the nation’s capital. With over 100,000 people flooding the streets, the Dutch House Mafia declared a piece of Ottawa for themselves and delivered the party to match the fireworks and festivities of its host country. In the nation’s capital for its biggest holiday, Dancing Astronaut presents the 5 Ws of Escapade Music Festival — who, what, where, when, and why from day three.
On Friday night of EDC at the brand new Hakkasan Las Vegas nightclub, Tiësto spent a portion of his set accompanied by the legendary Giorgio Moroder who shared a shot with the house music icon. They’re both legends in their own right, and Tiësto shared details about his evening with Huffington Post;
“He’s one of my youth heroes…He’s such a talented producer and to meet him, yeah, it’s one of those things, like, so cool. He comes to my show and he stayed the whole set actually; I played for three hours and he was there for three hours. He’s in his seventies and still rocking strong. We did shots together and it was fun to hang out together. I was honored that he came actually.”
He went on to discuss Daft Punk’s latest album and his opinion regarding its impressive success, stating that on Random Access Memories “the music doesn’t deliver on the hype so much” but instead asserts that “Because it’s Daft Punk and we want to believe the hype; we are cool people so we have to think this is cool.”
Although nothing is certain, Moroder and Tiësto did exchange numbers and the Musical Freedom label head wasn’t shy about the possibility of a collaboration; “he did a collaboration with Daft Punk, so why not with me?”

As Sin City revs up for the third and final day of the 17th annual Electric Daisy Carnival, we are taking a minute to reflect on the greatest hits of day two. With 75 artists on the bill on Sauturday evening, it’s not a surprise there were almost too many moments to store in the festival memory box, but for those of you who were not able to be raving under the desert sky, we’ll try our best to set the scene for you.
Only fourteen months after his sophomore compilation, Tiësto is back with the third installment of Club Life. From Las Vegas to Miami, Tijs crosses the pond to deliver his evolution over the past year in the form of Stockholm. Volume three follows in the footsteps of its predecessors with a fool-proof formula. One facet offers some of the most popular, anthemic productions in dance music, while another offers brand new homegrown collaborations from Tijs. Between big room gems and a few unique anomalies, upcoming artists are recognized and one of the most seasoned veterans reveals his sonic mindset for 2013.
Tomorrow marks the release of Stockholm, the third installment of Tiësto‘s compilation series that began in 2011 with Las Vegas, and continued to reign in 2012 with Miami. As Tiësto’s ear has evolved, so has his Club Life brand, and this year’s offering comes packed with well-polished gems from start to finish. On the brink of release, Tiësto took the time to open up on Club Life Volume III, from its production process to its collaborations, and the creative challenges faced when putting together an album while jet-setting around the world.
Beyond the new album, Tiësto touches upon authenticity in the dance music industry, managing career responsibilities, manning his Musical Freedom label, and possibile personas for future tours.
True to their penchant for cutting to the core of budding dance talent, Musical Freedom are back with a fresh-faced take from ascending North American artist Bass King and his French peer X-Vertigo. As featured on Tiësto’s latest Club Life compilation installment, “Kings” shies away from the full-throttle peak-time vibes that have led the label so firmly towards the impending festival season. With a little help from the vocal assets of Golden Suns, the track opts for compositional delivery over mind-blowing adrenaline, delivering a well-tuned output as worthy of radio-play as it is the attention of the label’s high-flying ringleader.
